When I lived in the states, Food Not Bombs was one of many organisations I worked with and supported. They are a great organisation that feeds needy people. Currently they have been fighting with the city of Orlando over feeding people who live on the streets there.
A few weeks ago they setup in a local park to feed some of the homeless there. Being homeless in Orlando is illegal, but you can't really do much about it in this economy so instead of trying to round up all of the homeless and put them in prison, the city has decided to round up anyone feeding them in efforts to push them out of town.
Food Not Bombs has been taking in money to help feed the many who find themselves living rough in Orlando and every week the police come in and arrest everyone who is trying to feed these people.
This is the video from this weeks event where six more were arrested.
What does it say about a city and it's police force who are more worried about this sort of thing rather than the bigger question which is what about the human beings who are living rough? They are trying to force human beings, American citizens, out of its borders by starving them out.
It is some pretty draconian shit.
