Well, I think they've made themselves objects by removing their personality and playing on the physical to much. I try and treat everyone with respect when possible. I personally find strippers kind of repulsive in a germophobe kind of way.But that doesn't mean I wouldn't treat them with respect.

Of all the people I've known in my life, I find strippers to have the best personalities. A few of them are my closest friends.

Being a stripper is just a job, it doesn't really reflect the person they are on the inside. Besides, many people could be considered strippers if you consider them as people in the "lookie no touchie" business. This includes the girls who participate in beauty pageants, models, and even women who wear short skirts. The guy who said that strippers are not human should reflect on his words.

Strippers are like everyone else. They do a job and get money for it.
They sell sex like models, TV personalities, and movie stars do.
By 'sell' I mean they produce the image in their mind of their audience, and profit from it.
It doesn't make them anymore an object than any other celebrity out there who does a Calvin Klein ad or racy sex scene in a movie.

I disagree, Sternn. You can't compare stripping to selling sex in the media. Stripping is more direct and is a career while selling sex in the media is just hinted at and leaves room for the imagination. I fear that did not make much sense, but all I'm saying is that they're two totally different things.

That scene from Monsters Ball didn't leave much to the imagination.
It was a shit movie, though...

It's not good to generalise. There's always something that'll defeat the generalised argument. Of the top of my head, I can think of quite a few different movies, adverts, music artists, etc, that use sex to sell their product. Strippers get flak for it why? Because they don't put a sheen on it? Because they don't say "Well, it's OK, because it's Christina Agui-whatever-the-fuck-her-name-is? That's fuckin' bullshit, to be honest. From what I've found, it's usually close-minded Christians and ugly fuckers who bitch about strippers and the like.
But I'm generalising.

The reason for making generalizations is because you cannot make one point apply to everything. I can't just go and say all strippers are bad (which I don't think), nor can I say that all media outlets selling sex have room for imagination. If I did, that would be a stupid and pointless statement to make. That's why you have to use generalizations, if you can't apply it to all, apply it to most.

You mean like a model or a singer or an actor? Even a good actor who isn't famous for looking hot could be said to have removed their personality in that they pretend to be someone else for a living. Stripping is a job like any of those. As for the germ thing, unless you're implying that all strippers are also hookers and crawling with STDs I don't see why they should be more germ-ridden than, say, a bartender.

From an American point-of-view I can see why you would say that, but you have to realise that boobs are only VERBOTEN in America. In Europe, women go to the beach topless, we have topless women on normal telly, and our papers and magazines have topless women throughout.
To have a topless strip club here is nothing like in America where you can't see boobs on a daily basis.
While it may appear 'more direct' there, here, its just another topless woman baring all for money, like we see on Page 3 of the Sun each week.
