Hot Topic and Sisters of Mercy? Ohhh baby!
I never thought this day would come..
I was in Hot Topic, looking for any hidden Siouxsie shirts or Bauhaus buttons (I have one of each.. Hot Topic OCCASIONALLY hides small amounts of Gothness in the corner).. I was just about to leave.. and..... This Corrosion starts playing. In Hot Topic. I almost jumped for joy/pissed myself/fainted. I even called Justin at work just to tell him. I walked around the store, singing along. I walked out as soon as I made sure the next song wasn't Bauhaus
Okay, so maybe I am overreacting. But.. Sisters of Mercy! In HOT TOPIC!
This might just be the happiest day of my life.

The employees of Hot Topic are the ones that get to choose the music played in the place.
If you have cool people working in Hot Topic, you get cool music.
A friend of mine also heard This Corrosion and said it out loud, a girl that worked in the shop couldn't believe someone in Hot Topic knew The Sisters of Mercy (even the workers are elitist about their customers! that one store gets points with me ) and now my friend wants me to meet her.

No Hot Topic I've been too has ever played anything of the sort, if I can remember well enough. But I do remember, my friend found a rather tight fitting Siousixe and the Banshee's shirt for himself. Looks rather good on him.

There's like five people in here, myself included, that have found that same shirt and admitted that Hot Topic occasionally has something good, just as any other store.

Sorry, after seeing "grills" for sale in Cinci, I pretty much made it a principal to not shop there ever again.

It's a decent store, sometimes. I got my cure shirt from there, and two pairs of pin-striped pants. The employees are usually pretty in tune with goth-icisim though. AT least, the ones I've talked to. They usually play punk, or metal, but sometimes I hear some awesome gothic rock. Sometimes even psychobilly.

my snot topic usually plays horrible pop punk too. Like, not even good legit punk. It's usually some shitty band covering an old song horribly. Once I heard a HORRID cover of an old Bobby Darin song. Oh! And lots of Emo crap.

All the employees are emo or pop punk rockers.. there is a big "scene kid" crowd here, too.
That's really why I was so surprised.. I NEVER thought I would hear anything I liked in there.

Hot Topic sometimes plays good stuff. Every once in a while I'll go in there to browse and see if there is anything worth buying, and I'll hear a good song playing so I stick around and listen to it. I used to like Hot Topic, but a lot of stuff about it changed.
Scene kids and preppy kids are the majority where I live, but I try not to let them bother me too much. The scene kids aren't that bad, I guess.

Once, I was in hot topic and they were playing Rocky Horror Picture Show songs! I was so happy! I time warped right in the middle of that there store.

I went to Hot Topic once a few years ago before I had to go into work, I bought a CD, and the guy that was working there asked me if I wanted to go to The Sisters of Mercy concert with him that was that night... I was pretty sad as I HAD to work that night.

I'm honestly not clear myself, but I believe it involves indie music, headbands, and brightly coloured clothing.

Just to add my two cents; there are a few neat people at the Hot Topic that I live near. One employee plays a lot of old Death rock. Last time I went in there I heard Virgin Prunes, and Eva O.
I found out that the person who put all of that on was a chick with a huge death hawk, go figure.

I suppose that means I'm not going to go "scene" any time soon. I prefer darker colors, myself. And there is no WAY I'm going to splash bright paint on my leather jacket.
Maybe I'll just make my OWN subculture....

Hot Topic... ugh, once a place I used to buy "gothic" clothes in bulk... I don't live near one, closest one would be in Salt Lake City.

Add to that:
Coffee, discontent, American Spirit cigarettes and Urban Outfitters.
God I love indie music, and indie guys.
