Fashion DIY tips and gratuitous plugs. And hair. Hair! Flow it, show it. Wait...no. That's some hippie musical. Nevermind. |

I recently made a victorian bustle skirt accented with southern belle ribbon components and lace. I took a black satin and sheer funeral skirt(5 in. past my feet) and crossed it with this velveteen black and burgundy cheetah fabric(made the bustle with it). Then after I wore it as club wear and got googled over, I tore it down and used it for a drapecloth for painting. ^_^ Unfortunately this is where most of my DIY projects end up, or occasionally in the hands of my friends here(for free). I get tired of things fast, which is why thrift stores are my greatest allies.

Sounds cool, needs a bigger photo though!

Oh shit, I accidentally had it shrink it to 80x60mp because I was making an avatar and didn't check it, my bad.
Here it is (in full size):

You said you deleted the pic of the front? Did you do something to that too?

(Late reply)
Yeah I just added a few studs, nothing special.
Today I made myself a Cinema Strange shirt
I'm very happy with myself because it's my first shirt and it doesn't look all that bad!
Pics coming soon...

I bought myself a Danzig tshirt a couple of days ago.
Problem is that it's XL, and the particular design isn't made anymore.
So I want to take it in and make it fit.
But the design stretches to the seam of the shirt.
Anyone got any ideas?
As a last resort I'm thinking of cutting the design and lettering off.
Similar Tshirt HERE

Make a stencil from the shirt and DIY one.

Looks very neat, nice work.
Did you use the flash by the way? It usually helps a bit with getting clear pictures close up.

I'd do that, it's probably the easiest option.

Right I've cut the design and lettering off and have it pinned onto a tight tshirt.
The Danzig skull fits perfectly across the shoulders of the shirt I picked.
And the "DANZIG" is going on the front centered on the chest.
Will get pictures up once I've sewn it.

I tend to get random spurts of inspiration, and cobble things together.
I made a few pairs of steampunk mono-goggles, and some glasses out of optomotrist fitting lenses.
I was at a steampunk con a few months ago, and was interviewed by MTV and was broadcast on their station and their website, just because they liked my goggles =p
If I could post URL's Id post the link to it.
Im not good at patterns and stuff, but I like to saftypin or sew things together , DIY add-on's to things I find in thrift stores.

Finally got the Danzig shirt done.
Pics HERE
AND HERE
The real hard part was cutting off the excess once it was sewn down.
And the light reflecting off the sewing machine foot made it impossible to tell how far away the foot was from the yellow design as it was all the same colour!
Any thoughts?

Hehe.
Thanks.
I have another couple of pictures to upload tomorrow of a vest I'm working on.
It's got slits backed by net, spraypaint, and it's gonna be practically made up of patches of fabric eventually.
I'll put the pictures so far up here tomorrow as I'm well knackered now.

I'm making a Cure shirt with Robert Smith on the front (Cicero made one, first couple of pages of this thread).
Pictures to come soon...

Will you be doing one with the same Robert Smith picture? The one I posted a picture of got ruined by my cat years ago. I'll be glad to see it reincarnated!

Your jacket reminded me I was going to make a Rudimentary Peni backpatch for the vest I made out of a BDU jacket. Just tried it and had a go at those thin lines that come out of the letters and border. Bah didn't work very well
Your vest is looking good.

Why yes, I am.
I only found a picture of your shirt about two days after I got the picture.
I've finished... However I lack a camera so I'll have to wait for my parents to get back from Tasmania and use theirs.
It's a white shirt, with a black picture of Robert Smith, same as yours, on the front and just below him is "The Cure" in bauhaus 93 font. (Microsoft Word)
Speaking of Bauhaus I'm doing a shirt of theirs next. Big logo and Bauhaus underneath. Or above.
I know GM has one like that.

Try marking it out in pencil.
I did it freehand on the back of my leather jacket that way and it turned out pretty good.
Although the paint is coming off now.
There's a stencil on http://stencilpunks.mattrunningnaked.com/
Hope it helps.
On another note I just finished the Einsturzende Neubauten patch for the back of my blazer.
Will get pics up when some are taken.

Thanks, the damage is done though. I did it in a stupid way. I tried to draw it on with a thin pen, but it didn't come out on the fabric so I decided it would be a good idea to use the pen tip as a brush...
Anyway I went over those lines with a real paint brush and cleaned up the mistakes with white paint a bit.
Pic
You can see the patches where I've gone over in white paint on that and it hasn't all been sewn yet. Plus the real thing is a bit smudged which you can't see there. It's going to go on the back of this vest pic.
More trousers next and I also have a an idea of what to add to my jacket.
