Do you even know what the merchant navy is? It's got nothing whatsoever to do with the military.

sorry, didn't see merchant in there.

that's fine, do whatever.

Just had this thing, my mates dead set about being a grunt, he know's he's got a good chance of dying, he doesn't care he's fixated with this whole military mindset, bit of a nutter. I don't know why he's willing to die for it.

For some people it has to do with family tradition, I know one of my friends is going to be joining up as soon as he is done with school simply because every man in his family has been in the navy for the past five generations, at least he will be going in as an officer.

Beyond that the military really isn't a bad deal, a lot of people simply don't know what they want to do and the military gives you a decent paying, secure job for a few years that has amazing benefits such as free health care, the GI bill, free travel, and the ability to see parts of the world that few travel to, yeah it isn't the safest career path but plenty of people honestly enjoy it and feel that they are doing something worthwhile, at the very least it is more interesting than sitting at a desk all day.

Well, it was intentionally ambiguous!!!

Apropos of random, did you know that when Joe Sturmer (lead singer from The Clash) heard that U.S. Air Force members were using "Rock The Casbah" as their unofficial theme song during the first gulf war in Iraq, he wept.

I have decided that this website is about 50x more hilarious than when I last visited. This is my new old home.

And woah, Ben's back.
