The experience of knowing when someone is a spammer who joins a forum using their band's name and only makes threads about that band without participating in the rest of the forum or even trying to be a regular member.

FYI, we had a guy a while back who did the same thing - vxcheerleader, or something. He joined purely to shill his band, which he did in the music section, just like this guy. A lot of us enjoyed his music, he started joining the musical discussions, and plenty of us wound up liking the guy, even if he wasn't a regular as such. Well, there was another person who did like events. Chris Morey, I think. Anyways, he was shilling off his books. The fact that he was solely using the site as free ad service annoyed some of us. Granted, he got a bit more involved after Desp attacked him, but nothing would have changed if Desp didn't do so to begin with.

VXcheerleader was actually pretty cool, I didn't know he started with shilling his stuff though.

M.O.C. - far as I remember, the Chris Morey shit was more about the fact that Gnet was allowing them to us the Lit forum as an ad dump, while banning other members and deleting other threads (like moving the Porno thread from Lit to Whining for no apparent reason). Not to mention, Desp starting out critiquing the cover art and telling the advertiser "The product you are trying to sell me looks like shit", rather than, "This is MAH COMMUNITEH and I feel disrespected by your lack of interest in us as human beings!!" Also, you may have noticed that when Morey began to interact rather than just dumping links, Desp was receptive and open to discussions with him.

I really don't see much point in this conversation continuing as is. It seems to me that both sides here came into the discussion with good intentions.

Whenever I see someone belittle another, I tend to see it as an effort by the attacker to make themselves feel better about themselves. Therefore this behavior can often have its roots in insecurity. Goth culture tends to see the world outside of it as lacking any substance for all the insidious behavior which represents the nihilistic decent into the chaostrophy at hand. As such, it would seem natural to loathe the many depraved manifestations of the world not representative of a culture which often rejects that which does not see life's purpose as futile and headed towards ultimate failure. I would say it is a deep rooted pain that drives intense anger and disgust. Being aware of what drives one's emotional adversity can assist in viewing the personality from outside of itself, thus gaining perspective on our personality having our brief human experience.
