Recommendations for buying a drum machine

I'm looking at buying a drum machine so I can work on some solo industrial metal stuff I've been writing.

I'm wondering what you would recommend for an inexpensive easy to use drum machine. I'm looking at maybe getting an Alesis SR-16 or a Boss DR-5 used.

Help me out!!

Thanks.

Thumbs up

That Alesis is pretty great, and a good price. Get that, love mine.

Wink

Also, it's circuit bendable, so if you're doing gnarly drum shit, that'll come in handy, and it looks bad ass.

Yep, get the SR-16. Only drawback is that it doesn't contain a bass-player, which is pretty handy when doing solo-stuff. The 80's drumsound more than make up for it though.

I bought a drum machine a while back. Never really got into it though. You can do all that shit way easier with software these days.

He wants hardware, not software.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone. I'm planning on getting the SR-16 when I have the time/money. I did research and found out it's one of the easier machines out there, and a ton of old industrial metal bands used it.

Buy whatever the fuck you can find at the music store and learn to use it well. It will give you your own personal sound, to at least separate you from the rest of the generic industrial metal bands.
