Inherited a ss uniform.
I have recently inherited a complete black SS uniform from my grandfather who had pinched it during the end of ww2. Now scary as it sounds it fits me well..And I have chosen to do some modifying to it XD..haven't a solid idea yet..but I do hope for something that I can change back (for the obvious value of the uniform). So Any idea's or comments please post XD

I hate you! Some people have all the luck.
This guy I'm "seeing"- his mother owns Hitler's grandfather clock and office desk.
You lucky jerks!
What does everyone else get to own a piece of history but me?! *sulks*

That's really cool, but I have the feeling it's going to cause you quite a bit of trouble.

If you wear it with platforms and goggles it would make for a very industrial look ^_^

Replace the Nazi band with a blue one with the HLS logo as a statement. =P
Really, as long as you remove (though I wouldn't destroy them) the Nazi emblems, it should be fine.

Even I have to agree with that. In fact, all those old uniforms, the pre-Vietnam ones, cut an impressive figure. Especially the winter ones, with that coat...

Personally, I wouldn't go modifying it. If it's genuine, it's worth thousands - and eBayers will prolly pay you more for that than many of the cars listed.
You could then buy a cheap replica, which looks exactly the same, and do with as you wish - and still have a few thousand in the bank.

It would be bad luck to wear a dead nazi's uniform.

I'll pay you $100 for it. But post a photo of it first. If it looks good and has all the bells and whistles, I'll pay you $200 for it.

I wouldn't mod it. I would, however, wear it around the house and maybe get some photo's posted somewhere for us to drool over.

O.o I'd say sell it online for the highest bidder, and buy a replica to alter so it is not so Nazish. And you can play with dye and stuff with it. Be awsome!

No shit, I agree with you Meth. I do admire the style and design of the uniforms, but it's scares the fuck out of me to even try wearing or making a replica (without the nazi symbols on), and I do like the hats too. Oh well.
dark_dragon_of_ice, just imagine how much you can get for that, there are SERIOUS collectors out there that would pay hundreds or thousands for it and you could buy more stuff for yourself, like....ummm....NewRockBoots!!! As well as more clothes and accessories.
BUT, it's your choice whether you decide to keep it or sell it.

I told a slight fib about how my grandfather got the uniform and I know it seems a silly thing to lie about...but the uniform was his I just thought that he was a German soldier..so I was a little surprised.

That's kind of even cooler if your grandfather actually was in the SS... not because it's a good thing or anything, just that it's an interesting connection to have to such an important time in history.
I say keep the uniform, but don't alter it in any way. It's the sort of thing you'd want to keep in your family for generations to come.

As for the envy-part, I agree.
But seriously, if you even try to mod that thing I will hunt you down! It's a treasure, and you should do no such thing as to even think of cutting/dyeing/embellish/embroider it. Or whatever. I would use it as a model and make a totally new uniform. But never sell it...
Aaaah! Can't think....to...envious...
