1. Introduce yourself.
2. This should be in the fashion forum.
3. I can give you no advice on where to find a top hat online and I'll tell you why: a top hat is more than just a hat. It's a status symbol. It's the reward you get for searching every last worthy shop in the world to find it. And once you have that top hat you will love that top hat. Not just because it makes you look oh-so-gawth, but because you worked for it, to find the perfect one. Go and search Camden, but I've tried in the past and come home empty handed. Antique/vintage clothing stores are your best bet for something real, and expect to spend more than £30 if you want something worth wearing atop the most important organ in your body. Another recommendation would be to get one custom made by a proper millinery. And if you can't afford that now then I suppose you'll just have to wait.
Good luck and kindest regards,
Cicero, aka Mad Hatter #2
P.S. www.dracinabox.com used to have top hats, so if you're that desperate go ahead and buy one: but I warn against it, for it will bring you no joy.

^ There's the introduction forum. As you're new here, I suggest you read the "For the Newbies" thread, then write an introduction so we'll at least know a bit about you before sending you off to the far corners of the interweb in search of a hat
The rest of the forums are rather easy to find, so I'll end my 'help' there.

The regulars here request that you do. If you are truly interested in joining the community here, it would be the recommended and polite thing to do. I did right after my first post, after lurking and reading long enough to see that it would be appreciated.
I know we've had a few 'Fight the Power!' newbies lately who seem to think that they would be selling out if they did something so conformist as to introduce themselves like the rest of the newbies did. That's utterly ridiculous, and I would say if they're that boneheaded and belligerent then we don't need their company here.

When I first joined I found the introductions first WITHOUT being told after observing that there was indeed that section and indeed needed to (out of courtesy) introduce myself. You wouldn't just go up to someone you didn't know and start talking, you would introduce yourself, THEN talk.
And yes Cicero is THE Mad Hatter. And what a lovely Mad Hatter she is. AND she knows what it means to search for THE top hat. I knew my top hat was for me when my friend gave it to me. *Smiles and sighs with contempt at thought*

You mean "content". Contempt is quite another thing altogether.

Fedoras don't look good on me unless I perch it on the back of my head. I have a cheap black straw-cloth-woven fedora-type-thing, but I've abused enough that it's starting to lose its shape and get floppy. But it was 6$, so Bleh. Besides, there's something amusing about having a wonky hat. I still like it.

Ahem, actually I'm THE Mad Hatter, Cicero is my close second-in-command-of-hatterness. Cicero is Mad Hatter #2
Though I should post a picture of me and my top hat sometime to prove my point.

It would seem that the acquisition of a top hat is a sort of right of passage... here I thought they were just fanciful. I'd get one myself, but there's this guy at school that already has a trademark with a top hat. Mustn't infringe one's identity now.

I have been looking for one everywhere including Ebay. A not so fitted one that sits loosely on my head. Lame as it may sound, I say Mary-Kate Olsen wearing one with ankle boots, stockings and a big black sweater. I thought it looked fabulous.

Mary Kate Olsen... the epitome of goth.

Well, goth is somewhat a fashion staple now. Christian Dior has this entire goth motif. And I like it. There, I said it.

I like it too! It means those of us who are in it for the long haul can stock up on oh-so-gothy clothes while they're in good supply.

I wasn't making fun of you for liking the look when I said that. Personally I don't dress as your normal goth does. I wear what I like, what is comfortable and pretty and what I feel expresses me.
I was making fun of Mary Kate Olsen for being such a fashion victim and taking on a sub-culture for an afternoon's outfit.
Hmm. Unless you are Mary Kate Olsen, in which case I was making fun of you.. and I only have this to say. Eat a damn meal!

I have quite a few hats. Two are fedoras, one is a Peruvian skullcap, two are drivers caps, one is a frayed Gilligan-style hat, one is a cadet hat, one is a hemp Greek fisherman's cap, and... that's all I can remember for now. Oh, and a thin black sport liner, but that probably shouldn't count.
I like hats, yep.

Haha, no worries. I'm not Mary-Kate Olsen, thank God.
Althoooough, if that wasn't her stylist making her outfit decisions than kudos is in order for her.

Oh oh! Would you be interested at all in selling one of these fedoras?

Nah.
I got them at Target, if you must know. Their hats are about $15 each, and they rotate their (rather interesting) selection surprisingly often.
