I'm strangely not freeked out by donating blood or having a blood sample taken (the bodily fluid that I freek out at is vomit; can't stand the stuff). I actually watch the nurses poke needles into my arm...
...Is that healthy?

Needles don't bother a lot of people, my sister can sit and watch no problem.
When I was little I had to get a lot of bloodwork done, and it took two nurses to pin me down every time . Is it true you can't give blood if you ever had jaundice? I was trying to work up the courage to go donate, but then I heard that.

Someone save the Tenet!!
I find it amusing that every nurse I ask, while the blood donation or testing ensues, finds the male the least tolerant of subjects in the act of blood removal. Only a select few fail to drain ghost white and either go weak or completely pass out.
I actually don't understand the nervousness, much like women and mice, what do you imagine a 3-5 inch long 2-4 inch high animal has the capability to do? Fuzz you to death?

I've been wondering what's the maximum number of members that can sign up in this site?

Dang ... er, *retch*
Oh, excuse me.
Those posts from Nightfang make me drain ghost white and either get weak or completely pass out. Bloodletting, on the other hand, bothers me not one whit. At one of the low points of my life I was donating plasma twice a week to make seven dollars a pop.
Sanctus, blood and needles just don't bother me. However, I have heard that a lot of men are affected that way. I just don't get it ... like the mouse and insect thing you cited.

Some of my old friends actually met at the blood donation clinic. They called themselves Plasma Pals.

Required by whom? On what authority? Common consensus or black-uniformed whip-wielding dominacademics?

With my 2nd or 3rd paycheck from my new job, I'm going to move my cell phone number over to Verizon Wireless. The employee rate plans are amazing. And I'm gonna get that Treo 700w phone and the wireless broadband.
Imagine me sitting in any park, restaurant or whereever in this city, with a 500K-700K connection, Windows Mobile 5.0, Pocket Internet Explorer and Media Player 10. Can you say streaming internet audio and video ... in the palm of your hand ... anywhere? I'm drooling already!

Ben: Just make sure you leave it away from you when the wireless function is on. Nothing like cancer of the head/crotch. Just in case, you know?
Xng: Say hi to all your cute Greek sisters, by the way.

having it vibrate while in my pocket is still one of the most suprising/unnerving experiences I encounter on a normal day-to-day basis. I'm wandering about, doing my thing and all of a sudden "BZZZZT!"
'tis nuts!

Man held as terrorism suspect over punk song
LONDON (AFP) - A love of punk and hard rock anthems by The Clash and Led Zeppelin reportedly led to a British man being hauled off a plane bound for London by police on terrorism fears.
Indian-born Harraj Mann, 23, played "London's Calling" by The Clash and Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" through the stereo of a taxi he caught to Durham and Tees Valley Airport in northern England.
The taxi driver, however, grew suspicious of his passenger after listening to the lyrics of his chosen songs and alerted the authorities after they reached the airport.
Two police officers boarded Mann's flight to London's Heathrow airport shortly before take-off last Thursday.
"I got frogmarched off the plane in front of everyone, got my bags searched, asked every question you can think of," Mann, a mobile phone salesman, told his local newspaper, the Hartlepool Mail, on Monday -- a story that was picked up by the national press on Wednesday.
"I was being held for questioning under the Terrorism Act," he said.
By the time Mann was set free his plane had already departed.
The offending lyrics by The Clash include the lines: "London calling from the faraway towns, now war is declared and battle come down.
"London calling to the underworld, come out of the cupboard, you boys and girls."
"Immigrant Song", for its part, starts: "The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands, to fight the horde singing and crying Valhalla, I'm coming!"
A spokeswoman for the Durham Police confirmed that a man was escorted from the London-bound flight, questioned by police and released without charge.
"Safety is paramount and we respond to concerns from members of the public in the way they would expect us to," she said.
"In this case the report was made with the best of intentions and we would not want to discourage people from contacting us with genuine concerns regarding security."
