Yep that's true. But I'm sure that most people don't think of it that way, not everyones intentions are to be "lazy"....

Haha, no, but it IS lazy. It doesn't matter if they don't mean to be lazy, they also don't mean to be useful or actually give a shit.
In other news, my car didn't pass inspection. Goodbye, $1000.

Yep. I agree with Underwater. BUT, despite that, I actually participated anyway. I figured it wasn't bad as a symbol of solidarity between like minded people, but wearing purple isn't even less than enough.

Yeah. It couldn't be me taking up for her at all, could it. I mean, when stuff like this happens to me, I totally know that I want people asking me questions that might put my character into question.
Fuck. You are the most perfect and sophisticated asshole. Are you from the future? The jerkinator?
Your question COMPOUNDS the previous rudeness. Class act, bitch.

It's not really a symbol of anything. It's one day, and to pretty much 100% of people, you're a guy wearing purple.
Say you're wearing your purple, and you run across a another guy wearing purple.
You both get to have that little spark where you excitedly wonder if you're wearing purple for the same reason, and you both get a delicious feeling of having a secret.
Good for you. Kids are still dead, and that asshole Josh at work still calls me a dyke. I'm glad my experience could give you that twinge of excitement.

Well... I'm not a necromancer. BUT, I COULD hypothetically go to your work and beat his ass.
What would Ophelia do?

Ophelia would just realize that him calling me a dyke is a product of some awful thing, be it insecurity, loneliness, or some other unsurety, and treat him with kindness anyway.
In real life, Ophelia is a lot like Jesus.

Get fucked Ophelia*
You're basically saying: "Hey all you people out there, you people who are declaring 'I see you as a person, and support your right to marry, and grieve for this loss' yeah fuck you, my mom was a bitch aren't you aren't doing enough for me!" "People can't change the world overnight, so why should anyone try?" That's your MO isn't it? I mean every time JCC, or Alan, or anyone else on here shows up with a cause and/or something they think will make the world a better place you shout them down and tell them to do nothing. This is just a continuation of that cruelly apathetic misanthropic attitude you seem to enjoy holding over everyone's heads.
What precisely SHOULD people do, in your mind, to avoid being 'slactivists' and simply pornographically getting off on the idea of "secret help"? Vote for gay marriage amendments? Most of those people wearing purple will. March in a gay pride parade? You'd probably call that "disgusting". Should we maybe start a website full of testimonials from prominent gays in an effort to mentor younger GLBT kids and let them know that their life is going to get better? Should we go vigilante on Gay bashers like the aforementioned Josh? I guess I could become the Gay Batman but I don't think that would be the most efficient and practical solution. Should we maybe create erotic balloon art in an effort to comment on the situation?
The fact of the matter is you just had an ARMY show up and say: "hey, we support you and your status as a first-class citizen" and you snidely threw it back in their faces and called them disgusting. Yet again, you have chosen to do nothing and shout down those who actually ARE trying, in their own small way, to make a difference because you think they aren't doing enough for you.
so once again,
FUCK YOU.
*By a woman, man, or transgendered individual of your choice.

Translation:
In real life Ophelia would do nothing and continue to stew in her own self-loathing while attacking anyone and everyone who tried to do anything positive.

You are misunderstanding my thought, but that isn't surprising.
My point isn't that wearing a purple shirt isn't good enough, it's that it isn't ANYTHING, and people make it into something to feel good about themselves.
No, the world isn't going to change overnight.
So volunteer at a center for gay kids. Speak out against what's happening. Write to officials about gay marriage.
"Nah, I think I'll just wear this purple tee shirt. It matches my shoes, anyway."

Have you done any of those things?
"Nah, I'll just bitch about my life on Gnet. I'm going to do that anyway."

Yeah... a lot of the people that wore purple yesterday did all that too.

PS--saying that people doing this shirt thing will probably vote for gay marriage, etc, is as good as saying they'll probably get eaten by sharks, and you know it, so let's not bring unprovable hypotheticals into it.

But really, here is the meat of it.
If you disagree with me, great. Keep wearing purple, and I'm sure people will be nicer and laws will change.

Pics and details or it's hearsay and it didn't happen.

I'm not really the one with something to prove, so no.
Even if I NEVER had any involvement, though, that's better than fetishizing people's suffering for fun and trend.

Here's the most amusing part.
You're saying purple wearing folk are actually doing things.
That's hearsay.
I've said I have actually done things.
That is also hearsay.
So what is boils down to is a person was ranting on an internet ranting page, and for some reason, you're making more of it.

I'm calling you out for being a bitch.
I mean, you're not even preaching to the choir, you're bitching and moaning at the choir because they're not being choiry enough for you all the time.

It's not really a personal thing for me.
I'm also against "breast cancer awareness" bullshit. I've never been affected by breast cancer, nor has anyone close to me.
And still, you're confused about my problem with these people, but I've already repeated my point, and won't again.
(Slightly unrelated--what were you referencing when you mentioned Jilly and JCC? I don't remember being against some kind of activist attempt they made.)
