I just went to the refrigerator, looking for - no, jonesing for the remains of yesterday's pineapple. It was gone. My girlfriend must've taken it to work with her.

There is no God. We drift alone through a chaotic and indifferent universe, then we die and our bodies fall apart until they're goo. That is all.

Far as I'm concerned, the matter is now closed.

Why do good people suffer? I too lost a deliciously ripe, and wholesome, nurturing fruit as you did once; I became cynical, indifferent to theism, holding a grudge against the heavens, life was unfair!

Then over time I learned that fruit can grow again. Yes: life sucks, and there is evil in the world, but the renewal of life, that fruit can one day be tasted with as much sweetness as ever, to satisfy our hunger and fill us with contentment, this we must not forget!

From this we know (and please remember this is philosophy, NOT literal!) that all fruit must leave some day; it is not in the nature of fruit, be it pineapple or strawberry, or any other living thing to remain forever. Although Des says it somewhat caustically he is right: the maggots do come, and so if the precious citrus is not devoured we might as well accept it as a way to enjoy our daily diet, as others enjoy theirs.

May we all be blessed with fruit, no matter our geographical location and upbringing. I mean this sincerely.

Oh, was the discussion a circle jerk all along? Circle jerking does not lead to procreation, and thus evolution stagnates, which put the really religious bunch in a very happy state of complete wrongness (Sadly, the universe doesn't seem to mind this so they live on, even if they shouldn't.
