Saw it on the news. That was funny as hell! Even funnier is the attacker had time to shuck his other shoe too!

This just proves that Matrix parodies will never die. Hah.

I'm suprised that it took THIS long for someone to pull a stunt like that.

I don't think the people are questioning why they let in people wearing shoes-they were questioning why it took them two shoe throws and five seconds later to get out of their seats.

Has anyone else thought it creepy that Bush SMILES after the shoe almost hit him the first time? What the fuck goes through that man's head?

I don't think I could stop myself from laughing if an enraged news reporter took to throwing his shoes at my head.

I have a tendency to grin/smile/laugh when something unexpected happens. If someone threw a shoe at my head and missed / I dodged it, I have to say I'd be feeling pretty pleased with myself.

If I were in that position, and couldn't either call the guy throwing things at me terrible names or throw my shoe at him in a retaliatory strike, at a minimum I'd be shaking my head in a WTF sort of moment. I mean, who throws a shoe? Honestly.

^ Apparently in Iraq it's a huge sign of disrespect to throw your shoes, but that still doesn't make it a smart thing to do. Throwing one's own shoes seems to me to be very childish and pointless. And expensive.
Then again, I'm not an Iraqi citizen so I guess I'd feel differently if I were.

Yeah, I get the cultural implications. But still, he seriously threw not one, but a pair of shoes, at the "leader of the most powerful nation on the face of the earth".

Dude's got balls.

Questions That I Have for the Secret Service

1. Shouldn't you have jumped in front of that shoe?
2. Shouldn't you have jumped in front of that second shoe?
3. Second shoe = the one thrown after being removed from foot after first shoe was thrown.
4. Let's say people had three feet. Would you have allowed a third shoe to fly unimpeded?
5. While the shoe was in the air, were you like, "Oh, its just a shoe."
6. Same question about the second shoe.
7. Do you think this is funny, "Throw a shoe at me once, shame on--you. Throw a shoe--you throw a shoe, you can't throw a shoe again."
8. Is there not "protection training" for lunatics launching objects?
9. Let's say there isn't training for that--but do they tell you that if someone does throw (or shoot) something to be on the alert in case they want to repeat this behavior?
10. Where were you?

BONUS QUESTION: Do you think the Iraqis want us there? (Hint: their journalists are throwing their shoes at Bush)

I would seriously just not go to work for two days straight and only watch the video over and over again, if instead of Bush ducking, a secret service member dove in front of him taking the shoe. Especially if there was a "Nooooo!". The slow motion on that would be beyond enjoyable.

Here's to the shoeicide bomber.

Shoe-Thrower in Iraqi Military Custody, 'Suffering Broken Bones'

BAGHDAD — The journalist who threw his shoes at President George W. Bush was handed over to the Iraqi military, an Iraqi official said, as hundreds took to the streets Tuesday for a second day demanding his release.

Muntadhar al-Zeidi suffered a broken arm and ribs after being struck by Iraqi security agents, his brother told AFP on Tuesday.

Durgham Zaidi was unable to say whether his brother had sustained the injuries while being overpowered during Sunday's protest against Bush's visit or while in custody later.

Al-Zeidi was turned over by the prime minister's security guards to face further investigation by the military command in charge of enforcing security in Baghdad, the official told The Associated Press.

"He has got a broken arm and ribs, and cuts to his eye and arm," Durgham told AFP. "He is being held by forces under the command of Muaffaq al-Rubaie," Iraq's national security adviser.

He doesn't get the plush toy though. You need at least a glancing blow to win that.
