I never got to play with Lego when I was a kid, because it apparently wasn't a girl toy. My friends (who are all lovely geeks and are obsessed with collecting Lego mini-figures) found this out the other week, and have all started giving me Lego!

I have a mermaid, a plumber, a butler, a cyclops, a fitness instructor and a robot.

While we were all at brunch today we were playing with them, and I discovered if you turn the butler's hair around a little he gets an emo hair style.. and if you put the fitness instructors hair on the plumber it makes Billy-Ray Cyrus!

Indeed, I have the best friends ever.

Legos are awesome. When I was a kid instead of building what the designs said I should, I'd design my own space ships and fortresses. Ah, to this day I miss them because they were such awesome toys to let your imagination run wild

When I was a kid, I had two giant boxes full of Lego bricks. I had no instructions at all, so I would just build all these things and not care about the color uf the bricks, so I would have all these hippie flower power constructions.
I loved it so much I miss those boxes from time to time..

Measured my waist and belly. I've lost four inches (or about 8 cm) from my stomach and three and a half inches from my waist (or about 7 cm). I'm halfway to my goal in only a month but I want to make this fat loss permanent.

I was shocked to find out that Lego came with instructions.

And I'm glad that you're able to eat again, Timeless Rebellion.

Wasn't a girl's toy? Hrumph! I had a big box of lego, hand-me-down and I loved building with it. Would spend hours, but then I also had matchbox cars, barbie dolls, and played dam busters.

how much stereo-typing we put on our kids but allowing them to play with certain toys.

WMMD: almost finished painting. 10 days I've spent painting the blasted roof by paintbrush. 10 days, I'll never get back.

Timeless: hun, so happy you are finally eating again.

Reminds me how when I was a little kid watching fireworks, I met a girl and we played with her polypockets (back when they actually were a thing that fit in your pocket), I didn't see any harm in it then, and I don't now. Maybe if more girls played with legos we would have more female engineers.

And here I was thinking the dropping of pants was some strange Danish tradition.

Ren: Totally agree.

International Women's Day is over - I am now allowed to have a penis again without being severely blamed for it - and all evil in this world. This pleases me

So, TR, International Men's Day is November 19th. So you guys get to celebrate just before Thanksgiving. I mean, how convenient is that? As to International Women's Day, equal parity should be in order here, right?

Jaye: I have never heard of International Men's Day - and believe me, if I said just half of the things I heard some women say during International Women's Day, then I'd be branded a disgusting chauvanist :P

What made my day?

Metal Gear Solid 4!! It is absolutely awesome!
I didn't spend much time with my jaw off the floor, and if the intarwebz hadn't spoiled the very end scene for me, I am all but certain it would have stopped my heart.

Every day is fucking Men's Day.

Can't have one fucking day to talk about violence against women without everyone crying foul.

Its like everyone bitching about Black History month-the shortest month of the year.

You misunderstand.
I don't have a problem about having a day to talk about genuine mistreatment of women and fight against it - hell, I'd even join.

What ticks me off is this brainless-looking feminist going on TV, complaining that most of our streets are named after men - because that's an evil that men today have done, not a historical remnant... Basically, if you had a penis on that particular day, you were the devil himself.

THAT pisses me off.
If I said half of the shit I heard from women on that day, I'd be labeled a chauvanistic pig.

If you're getting pissed off about someone bitching about street names I have some news for you: you may just be an asshole.

Also most things, roads included, are still named after men, it isn't some remnant, so while I do think there are much more important things to be discussed it is still a valid point.

Then there is the fact that you say you would be labeled a chauvinist if you said the things that these woman said on this one day but I doubt they were saying or doing anything worse than what they experience every day as the whole point of their actions was to show men how women are treated and what it feels like. Yeah you didn't like it, nobody likes being treated that way, just be happy it was only one day instead of all of them.

I don't agree with oppression of women of course. But I don't like my gender being blamed for something individuals do.
I haven't done women any wrong because of gender - why should I be blamed because other men did? The same as I don't demonize women in general just because I have been mistreated by women in the past.
I do not care much for being demonized because of my gender - even if only for the day.

However, I just now realize that perhaps I might have come off somewhat rude, and I do apologize for that. I meant no offense really, and I believe the best course of action would be for me to just withdraw now.

Cry me more man tears, I need it for my potions.

But if you really think sexism is an act of individual men and not an unfair system of power that privileges cis men over women and gender minorities, and you bear no personal responsibility to change that, yes, you're kind of an asshole.
