Curiosity killed the cat

As the saying goes 'curiosity killed the cat', mine just so happens to be killing me.

How many of you readers can see anything BUT boxes or question marks in my signature?

I can see them.

Anyone that's been to a japanese website [and thus, has downloaded the kanji] can see it.

I can see them, and have been breaking my brain trying to translate (alas, my kanji-reading skill has not reached the echelon I so desire). Parts of it look so painfully familiar...

::pondering::

Where is your sig from?

My sig happens to be a poem I wrote. It is located somewhere on this forum. So to save you the trouble, I will translate it for you (I happen to be literate in Japanese).

In Mystery I lay

Shrouded in mystery I stay
Perceived by thoughts not long forgotten
My world I wish was pure grey
For simplicity sake

Come to me, do not leave
For fear grows on me everyday
Fear of those who may forget me
As I pass from this world to another

As my death has come to pass
I shall remain watching over you
I watch you weeping in the moon lit grass
And curse myself for leaving you

Please do not weep
I whisper into the wind
Into the darkness do not seep
For I may lose you

By the way, this isn't related to this thread, can anyone get "Through the looking glass" by Stone Sour out of my head?

I can see them. I'm using Linux, though, so these things often are preinstalled on my system.

I've got a song for you (it's bound to drive the Stone Sour one out of your head): Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out of My Head". Don't blame me for going insane...

Thanks, Shyantra, that's even better!

(I do literal translations--I suck at translating something that sounds flowery in one language to making it sound flowery in English as well).

So you DID post this elsewhere in the forums... that explains why I felt like I had read it elsewhere! I really like this. A lot.

You should be careful about lying in public spaces. There might be someone around who is in a position to check your claims.

Neither can I, but as Maggot mentioned, you need to have the Japanese characters installed on your computer. If you go to a chinese website, it will prompt you to download the ASCII characters that you need (to view)... same as with a japanese website. :}

I can see them.
How long have you been studying Japanese?
I'm impressed at your effort.
Translation of poetry is pretty difficult.
If you like Japanese poetry I recommend one called "Ame ni mo makezu" by Miyazawa Kenji.

However much effort may have been put into the poem, there was no effort put into translation. It is an obvious machine translation. I can even tell you which engine was used, and in what fashion.

Maybe getting called on the bluff was what she meant by "killed the cat?"

パソコンを使ったかも知れないな。確かに彼女の作文は文法的に変だったし適切な語句も使っていないんだけど 、ただ彼女の努力を褒めてあげたい。

I wasn't lying. And to prove it I will find the link. Here: https://www.gothic.net/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=3

I don't care if you check my ligitimaties (sp) because I know that what I say in this respect is true. I would never plagiarize knowingly. That is not the character I am.
