Why shouldn't it matter?

Why should it?
Personally, religion could well not matter when it comes to interacting with other people, only of course when they bring it up it just shows how much more superior I am.

If you were making friends with someone, and you both got on well.
You then found out they had a religion that you didn't agree with.

Would you walk away?
Or would you brush it aside and continue to familiarise yourself with them?

It matters because the religion a person follows tells a lot about them.
I never said that you should only be friends with one group or anything like that.
But it matters.

For example, there's a member on this site who is a Muslim, and has said outright that she believes people who convert away from Islam should be killed. If religion doesn't matter, then I would ignore her believing that, and pretend it doesn't count because it's her religion.
But fuck yes that matters.

That's a good point.
But for someone completely unfamiliar to oneself to not be given a chance just because they claim to be a certain religion is ridiculous.
If they enforce their beliefs, fair enough.
If they make racial remarks about other religions, fair enough.
But for them just to declare they are a religion does not mean one should shoot them down in flames.

Racial remarks about other religions?
WTF.

And I never said I would immediately dislike someone because of his or her religion.
I think if I did, however, that I would possibly be justified.

In what way is saying that a religion is crap hypocritical?

Haha, ok.
Actually, no.
I'll ask you this, instead.
Can you think of a reason it would be unjust to be discriminating in any way I choose when considering who to spend my time with?

Saying that one religion is crap in comparison to ones own. Was that not obvious?

Notice I have not said 'you' as in, you. I have mentioned no names and I was talking about people on a forum that you so rudely dismissed and then not given a valid reason.
When talking about spending ACTUAL time with, then fair enough.
Do what you believe to be true, just don't come on a "Community" forum and tell a new member that his religion is crap, because what you say isn't goning to change that person, it just gives them, and others, a poor impression of you.
There is no reason why you shouldn't choose who you talk to, but by coming on the thread, not to even bother welcoming the person and giving your opinion on something they believe, is in my personal opinion, unjust.

I say the moon does not exist.
You say it does.
Does that make you a hypocrite?

If I was telling you how wrong you were and enforcing my opinion upon you, the yes.
Maybe hypocrite is not the right word. Maybe it's just ass.

I didn't dismiss anyone. I never said odin'swhatever is a moron or a bad person. I shared my opinion of his supposed belief system. As for the hypocrisy...I'm not addressing that because you don't have a clear idea of what it means.

You also seem to be confusing harshness or perceived meanness with a thing being unjust.

You're not using the word "enforcing" right either, but I'll let that go, because what you said is still understandable.

I'm not forcing my belief on anyone.
I'm not dismantling any altars, and I'm not breaking up any circles.

If a person stops practicing his religion because in my opinion it's stupid, then that person was either never actually serious about it, or has severe mental problems that aren't my fault or responsibility.

Another thing to note:
I stated my opinion of a faith.
Despite a few people here being so enraged that I had the gall to say I don't like something, not one person has offered a reason why it's not bullshit. So either they can't, and I'm correct, or they don't believe with the conviction they want others to imagine they do.

Who is being more disrespectful here?

So you're a hypocrite/ass because you're telling me something that is actually true when I'm too much of a dick to listen?

You're right, you're an ass, but for entirely different reasons.

That's very true, however you randomly coming out with 'Heathenism is bullshit' and then thinking everyone else is wrong who disagrees is just plain rude.

I am not going to claim to know anything about this subject. I am 14, and not a particularly intelligent 14 year old at that.
If noone else has offered an opinion on why it isn't bullshit then that's their problem.
But I just think that if you wanted to ignite a discussion about the topic, it's only polite to not do so on the introduction thread of a member of that religion.

Your premise implies that she's wrong for thinking so instead of thinking what you think.
That's the definition of hypocrisy.

You're right.
In the future, I will not sacrifice politeness for the sake of an interesting discussion about faith and philosophy.
In fact, it's best to treat all situations this way. Best not to speak up or get in anyone's way, lest I may be thought of as a rude girl, and not the sweet little lady I am.

Good luck, toots.

I so happen to agree with Underwater Ophelia actually.
I just don't agree with the way she has gone about telling people her opinion.

Well, if you don't care that a few people on this forum think you're an ass (And I'm not speaking for myself here, by the way. I don't even know you) then that's fine.

So what, you backstabbed your argument about hypocrisy?

I didn't call her a hypocrite.
I said they did not deserve to be shot down in flames unless they enforced their beliefs and then told others that their beliefs were a load of rubbish.
So no, my argument about that still stands. And it wasn't an argument, it was a statement

I think it's clear that it barely crosses my mind.
I can't afford to live my life in such a way that I'm forced to constantly wonder if I'm liked.

Fair enough.
That's the same with most people, to a point.

I'm merely demanding you to defend your position that were she to enforce her beliefs on someone else, that it would make her a hypocrite.

Yes.
It would.
But, as she has not, then she is not.
