carakitty, casual goth

Here is my intro. Enjoy, please.

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
I am a wife and mother to a now 5 year old girl. We have four cats. My life consists of taking care of all those bodies, listening to music, playing around on the computer, and getting out for taking some photography when ever I can

2. Where are you from?
Born and raised in SoCal, currently living in Colorado

3. Who is your favorite author?
Fuck, its a favorites question. I despise favorites. But I have been enjoying the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. I also really liked Juliet Marillier's Mists of Avalon series

4. What are your favorite films?
Movies we've watched over and over in my house are: The Corpse Bride, Braveheart, the Matrix Trilogy, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Van Helsing, Blade, Underworld, is that enough now?

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
Already got married, but I'd choose..... Love Song by The Cure if I were to do it over again. Maybe. It would depend on the guy too. His opinion counts. A little. And this is in regards to what is played for the first dance at the reception. Walking down the aisle is a different matter altogether.

6. At your funeral?
Nobody's Baby Now by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
In my sleep with loved ones near by.

8. What kind of casket would you want?
mahogony wood. simple box style.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
long sleeved black velvet tea length dress with scoop neckline and princess seams. Care to hear more? I like wearing it with ivory tights, cobweb cross necklace, saints medal bracelet or triple bangle bracelet, the usual earrings, and boots.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
the innocence

11. What's your favorite band?
The Cure. Coming in close for that title are also Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds + Bauhaus

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
Graduated high school, took some art classes in college long ago and will going back to school in January for a degree in Veterinary Technology

13. Why did you join?
To see what other Goths or wannabes have to say. Fashion tips. To find more bands to listen to.

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
I am of the female body type.

J. Marillier = Sevenwaters & Bridei series
M. Z. Bradley = Mists of Avalon
Both authors are awesome, so it's okay.
I also like Outlander.

What saint is on your bracelet?

Welcome to the boards :]

GAH! so embarrassed about that mix up. I have read the Zimmer Bradley series as well. Don't know why I got them mixed up in my head.

Which Saint IS NOT on the bracelet is more likely On it I have little medals for:
Sacred Heart of Jesus,
Holy Spirit
Miraculous Medal
St. Francis of Assisi/ St. Anthony
St. Therese
St. Raphael
St. Patrick/ St. Bridget
St. Christopher
John Paul II (not a Saint I know but I hope to see him Sainted in my lifetime)
and a Celtic knot work cross which used to be an earring. I lost the other one in a snowy parking lot, and tried to use the remainder as a necklace pendant but it was too light.

There's room for 2 or 3 more additions.

Thanks for the welcome =) Are you Catholic, or just interested in it?

I'd much rather see Mother Jones cannonized than John Paul, but I won't go into that here, and I'm also an atheist now so it doesn't matter what I think. I just realized I still have a John Paul II rosary in my room. Thanks to my mom and my best friend's mom I have all of those medals, plus Elizabeth of Hungary. Welcome aboard.

Thanks for the welcome SweetJane. I read Mother Jones's biography on Wikipedia. It does look like she did a lot of good.

Korinna- What do you think about wearing a Rosary like a necklace? I was raised with the unspoken word that doing it was disrespectful and not allowed but then when I was in high school I was told that it was allowed but never could get over it. I have about 20 Rosaries and wish they could be shared more easily.

I love wearing rosaries. I have two (one has an ankh instead of a crucifix), and want more.
WEAR THEM! =D

My mum is Catholic and wears rosaries, although often she wears them under her clothes rather than over, but I think thats more because she doesn't want people asking her about it sometimes.

Do Catholics have wrist rosaries you can wear? I don't like wearing my long mala beads but I like wearing wrist malas ^_^

Yeah, they're usually for people in the military. I have an antique one from Hungary with pearls in it... I should have it appraised. It's probably the only thing from "the old country" we have that's worth anything. Everything we own gets used until destruction.

I've never worn rosaries, probably out of a mixture of being shamed out of doing it by other catholics, and also because it's just not my style.

My mom told me about how when she was a little kid her polish grandmother, who barely spoke a word of English, had a room that was a shrine and there were a bunch of rosaries and she got the slavic death-stare from her grandmother because she found her swinging a rosary and doing the charleston haha. Which is, of course, where my mother learned to fill me with guilt without even saying anything.

Yes there are bracelet Rosaries. They hold one decade of the prayer beads and usually a very small Crucifix or Medal.

creature6 thanks for sharing the beautiful image! The detail on the cross is so complex that I almost don't mind the missing Corpus Christi.

Yup. All sorts of New World Order and Masonic stuff. There's a bunch of morbid art pieces throughout the terminals. Although it looked like they'd been moved to less prominent places or completely removed last time I was there. Was rushing through so hard to know for sure. Let's not forget the huge blue bronco with the glowing red eyes who fell on the builder during construction and killed him yet still the beast greets millions of travelers day and night.

I Googled "Denver International Airport and New World Order" and got a bunch of good hits. Creepy shit man, real creepy. Have fun! *wink*

Haven't been there yet. I like the DNV Metro area and Pearl Street in Boulder the best of the places I've hung out so far. Do you know anything about the Goth scene over here?
