Vampire Teeth?

I want vampire teeth... have any of you thought about this too?
I mean, it would look great, like these

But I want mine to look more real...

I think vampire teeth can be done well, or done poorly. My friend had some great fake ones, but they kept falling off and she would end up swallowing them.....But if you find some that work and look decent, let me know! And put up some pics.

I don't like them personally. Except for Halloween or fancy dress or whatever.

I'd love a pair.
But I have braces.
I love my braces more though.

When I'm old enough I want filed teeth.
It actually helps prevent cavitys.

Overdone, stupid, people won't take you seriously with them. I agree with Tickingstitch. Having no teeth is in.

It's definitely nothing to do with those.
In ANY way.

Thank you, smartass.

Let me rephrase. What the hell's the point of filing your teeth? DON'T say, 'It helps prevent cavities.' Are we talking about filing them from the bottom up to make them even horizontally, or kind of polishing the surfaces? I can't figure out what would make someone do this.

You're welcome.
Well it sharpens them to points.
Thus preventing cavities.
And my teeth aren't sharp at all.
Google it?

Vamp fangs are annoying. You seriously sound like you're speaking with your mouth full of gravy. Take it from me. You _do not_ want them.

Yeah, making them look like this was definitely NOT the first thing I thought of when presented with the whole 'filing teeth' thing. It will, however, be the last time I think about it.

Not that I wouldn't look totally hot with a nice set of vamp fangs, but I would never wear them. First, I may end up talking with a lisp and second, it's pointless. Sure I like to dress like a victorian vampire at times, but that does not mean I have to have pointy teeth. I also have this weird habit of biting my tongue while bored. I'd have a mouthful of blood in no time with pointy teeth.

Apologists will say humankind has altered its body for ages, but it has also believed in gods and that doesn't make it true.
Personally I believe modifying the body in such a way is stupid.
Neither am I the type of person that thinks the human body is perfect the way it is and should remain that way, as that is generally a justification for not taking care of oneself.
There's only three reasons for someone to alter their bodies:
For health purposes, but thanks to natural selection there's not much that is necessary in that aspect.
For aesthetic purposes, and while that would enter into a whole new debate, vampire fangs are not aesthetic in any way as their only purpose is to remind someone of a mythological paradigm.
And for stating a message, such as long hair in the sixties and real mohawks through different periods in time. But the vampire fangs can't get away with this either. Vampire fangs would send a message as most anything does, bu it doesn't create the message. It's something receptive; it's not saying "here's what I have to express to the world". No; it says "here's something I once saw and without delving into the why I decided I wanted it"

I think it does fall into the latter two categories.

Vampire fangs most definitely changes one's aesthetic. Whether one has pointy or flat teeth, the spacing in between one's teeth, whether one has had braces, etc., is all part of aesthetic, because it will change a person's evaluation of you. While the primary intention of wearing vampire teeth is message-sending, one cannot deny that they have an aesthetic effect. Thos who dress in Victorian goth, for example, most likely are sending a message about themselves, but one can't deny that there is also a sense of style involved, as well.

Vampire fangs also send a message. I would like to differentiate between personal and social messages. The paradigm you established was the social one, for example, police or fireman's uniforms instantly communicate a person's position in society.
The other message, the more personal one, would be the reason this person is wearing the teeth personally. It might be a role-playing thing, or a love of Vampires, or in the case you mentioned of the person who saw it and thought it looked cool, the message might be, "I'm a poser and want approval."

I think that the message sent on the social level is something along the lines of, "this person deals with the arcane," or, "this person thinks he/she is a vampire;" whatever the sum total of all the individual reactions to them in a given society.

The personal message is whatever the person wants it to be, and is communicated implicitly by the choice of the person to wear the fangs. It's like a work of art: the artist had something in mind when they made the artwork. That's the personal message. The social message is what other people take from the artwork. Both the fangs and artwork have a certain level of vagueness to them, which is why the two messages are not the same.

That said, I don't think I'd ever really do this, unless I were to meet a chick who would let me bite and draw blood from her. That could be fun.

I'm not saying it's of neither category. I'm saying it fails in those categories.

I only saw one person in San Diego that looks remotely decent with them. Everyone else I've seen fails horribly at fangs.

I think vampire teeth in general don't look very attractive on anyone. Your mouth ends up looking swollen.

I have a friend who naturally has particularly sharp/pointy looking canines, which gives him a very very very subtle "vampire fang" look. My opinion on that? It's pretty freaking hot.

However, fake, very pronounced vampire fangs, in my opinion, look rather silly. I would never want them.

Any way, if you want vampire fangs, go ahead. Get them and enjoy them throughly.
