Serious video game question.

So I need some advice here, I can only get one of these games, but I have no idea which one. Essentially I'm stuck. So I figured I would ask the people that have played and probably beaten the three games in question. Being that I can only pick one, which one of the three games would you guys pick?

Portal 2

Dragon Age 2

Skyrim

I'd go with Skyrim for the replay value, let alone that it'll keep you occupied for a pretty long time.

mostly though I would just say skip Dragon Age 2, its pretty disappointing. I'm a HUGE Dragon Age: Origins fan and it was a big let down, I never finished it.

So maybe I should get origins instead. I was thinking about the 3 games but after about an hour, I figured out what I wanted. Portal 2, as fun as the predecessor is, is a one time thing. The story doesn't change much the second play through. So I'll let it wait a little longer. So then it comes down to Skyrim and Dragon Age. I'm leaning towards Dragon Age, because it's seems more player driven, as far as the story goes, as well as being able to have some romance options. Skyrim seems awesome, but if it's like Fallout, then I think I'd rather that on pc than Xbox.

So Dragon Age sounds like the better deal for what I want right now. So, Origins was better? I'll go ahead and check the price on that one.

Actually, Skyrim is pretty awesome as just a vanilla game, even without mods from the PC version. My one complaint is that magic is very disappointing, but in a game of vikings with a robust melee combat mechanic, I quickly got over it. Like Saya said, it's replay value is amazing.

But Origins is great, too. And it'll be cheaper. I'm just kind of "meh" about it. I love the characters and their stories, but the overall story is stupid boring to me. I never finished the game. I did all the side quests and just put it down.

@Saya: We need to turn her into a Shale fan girl. I am pleased.

If you can get Skyrim for PC and it'll run, then get that.

Mass Effect was amazing. DA:O is supposed to be awesome. I haven't played it. Yeah. Awesome story telling in those games though as far as I can tell.

But Skyrim isn't something you just pass up and ignore. If you get Skyrim, you'll always come back to it.

DAO is really something you might play once or twice and then that's it.

Despanan loved DAO and it's why I have it. But once I got Skyrim when it came out... he hasn't even picked DAO up... at all.

Hey man, I've played about 10 run throughs of DAO. I'd probably run through it again myself once I can get Shale on my xbox version, and I'm forcing a non gaming friend to go through it because I just know she'll love it that much.

I just need to do the dwarf origins and I can say I've played through with every class and race. But not every gender, I always play as a woman but apparently there are weird differences if you play as a man.

I dunno. A story would have to dramatically different each time for me to play it several times over.

While Saya is right that it can be different each time, I'm doubtful that it's different enough.

Depends on your moral decisions. I'm still sad Alistair got mad at me for recruiting a certain asshole that one time just for the achievement.

I could never be quite as evil as Morrigan always wanted me to be though. She usually stayed at camp.

If characters are good I'll replay a game over and over. I think the only game I replayed that much was Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. Just cause sometimes I miss Beckett and Gary.

Ended up going with Skyrim. It has so far been AMAZING. I will get Origins, but I found out if I wait and look around at the shops I can get the collector's edition for dirt cheap.

Yeah. You can get DAO for dirt cheap these days.

I'd shoot to get that and Dawnguard at the same time if you can hash it out money wise.

Dawnguard makes Skyrim a jillion times cooler.

Other then Destruction magic, archery, and unarmed, I really like vanilla Skyrim. Bethesda did a lot better with character customization (THOUGH YOU STILL CAN'T MAKE A CHARACTER WITH DARK SKIN WTF) and item appearances, and I really like the scenery. The ambient environment is like it's own character. And seriously: SO MANY QUESTS. Honestly, the only mods I have so far are vanity stuff and a magic overhaul.

I don't always make a sneaky magic user.

But when I do, I summon the apocalypse's older brother.

I thought you could select darker skin tones. You just have to select the Redguard race, or at least I was sure.

I love the world, I seriously have to stop sometimes just to look around. At times, i shed a tear, for the shear beauty of the two moons and an aurora dancing across the midnight sky.

I didn't mind the magic in the game, and I can settle with the archery. The only thing I wish I could change is to have a section in the menu where it's dedicated to status ailments and character health. I was walking around for hours with people telling me I look like shit, and then the moon came out and my screen went red, telling me I felt a strange hunger. I hadn't the slightest idea what the hell was wrong, and no doctor would talk to me. which can be cool in it's own way, like being scared if you have the plague or not and having to make your way to the doctor to find out...

Red guards can be a light brown, but they don't have actually dark skin tones, like a chocolate color, you know?

That's stupid. I figured it was possible, because I've seen towns folk that were pretty dark. I don't understand why you wouldn't be able make a character that dark.

Is that the one that includes Awakenings? If so, good, you can join us in bitching about poor Anders's treatment in Dragon Age 2.

Am I crazy? Because SERIOUSLY, I've seen some REALLY dark toned characters in Skyrim.

Maybe my TV is set up kinda weird or something.

Then again, I typically end up playing someone who looks mixed.

Redguards are ambiguously brown, they aren't black. They don't run the gamit of dark skin AT ALL. It's actually really hard to even get similar facial structure to a black person, like Resident Evil 5's Sheva - She looks like a white girl with darker skin.

Me and Versus were just talking about this again and he was saying you can't make a black Imperial. Which is weird, because throughout Morrowind and Oblivion I have seen cross species relationships, like elves in love with humans and such. Bretons are supposed to be mixed between elves and humans. But you can't create an Imperial that may have had a Redguard parent or grandparent?

Skyrim: We'd rather fuck other species than brown people.

(which reminds me of Mass Effect, throughout the trilogy, your relationship with the one black guy will crash and burn, but alien love is true love.)
