Hello

Hello, my name is Alexandra or Alex. Whichever you prefer. I'm 15 but not necessarily new to the Gothic subculture. I don't think I classify myself as "Goth" but I do find myself highly influenced by it. I'm hoping to meet some interesting people and learn some new things at new perspectives. Feel free to chat with me sometime. I hope to surprise you and stand out from my generation and age group, intellectually and visually. I am an outlier. Enjoy.

1. What do you do?
Every type of artistic thing imaginable. Painting, photography, beading, sewing, knitting, etc. I'm a belly dancer and a dancer in general. I prefer tribal but I tend to branch out. I ride horses. I read quite a bit compared to my generation. I study psychology and I am fascinated with forensics and the criminal mind. I enjoy gardening (herbs, veggies, flowers, you name it) and I play guitar (classical, electric, acoustic, etc).

2. Where are you from?
A town in Michigan

3. Who is your favorite author?
I have many.
To be cliche: Anne Rice, Neil Gaiman, Edgar Allen Poe
Less cliche: J.D. Salinger, Marquis de Saude, Nathaniel Hawthorne
And more

4. What are your favorite films?
I really enjoy "The Illusionist", "Frida", "Girl Interrupted", "Blue Velvet", "Nosferatu: The Silent Picture". To name a few.

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
Drums and bongos. Flutes and fiddles.
Dancing in a forest or on a beach. Simple and natural.

6. At your funeral?
Doesn't matter. I'll be dead, and they probably won't play what I'd like them to anyway.

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
Any suicide. I call the shots. Literally.

8. What kind of casket would you want?
I think I prefer cremation. No viewing.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
My $10 red velvet salvation army dress. Super tight with a slit up the leg. Best find.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
I'm always going to be a little kid.

11. What's your favorite band?
The Cure, Bright eyes

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
Highschool. I'm a baby bat. =P
I will major in psychology. Most likely forensic psychology.

13. Why did you join?
Curiosity. I've been observing forums for 2 years now. But never joined because I don't really want to get flamed like every other person who posts.

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
Rather obvious. I'm have two X chromosomes.

You misspelled two of your supposed favorite author's names.

I just threw up a little in my mouth.

Naaw, I'm kidding. Welcome to the boards, and as you know, we will call you out whenever you can. Because, and this is important, we all want to draw attention to other people's mistakes to hide our own insecurities.

By the way, being a little kid is , like, SOOOOO gauche and poseury.

I resent you calling Neil "cliche."

Apologies. I didn't feel like looking up the names or looking for my books. My spelling is atrocious. They should forgive me for being sloppy. =P
And I love Neil, but then again don't most goths? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Other than the fact they're Bright Eyes.

Aw, come on... I'm sure that a very very dark corner of your soul has a tiny secret love for Conor Oberst and his sticky sentimentality...

I tried listening to one of their songs after bashing them.

I got about 20 seconds in and had to stop because my ears cried out in anguish.

I resent Neil Gaiman being cliche as well... and why would most goths like him? O_o Unless goth has some new relation to fantastical dreams?

Although there is David Bowie... <_<

Did someone say Bowie? That's what dreams are made of.

The Sandman series is goth as fuck. Aside from the dark imagery and subject matter, can you not see the resemblance of Robert Smith and Siouxsie Sioux in Dream and Death, respectively?

But regardless of whether or not Neil is well-liked by goths, he's still a fantastic writer.

I like you, your intro made me smile, and you reminded me to get around to reading Catcher in the Rye. Well after I finish The Book Thief and the Epic of Gilgamesh as unrelated as they are.

To help you visualize the point I was trying to make:
Picture a club on Goth night. For every 5 ladies there is 1 who has their face painted like Death.
I remember one of the first things I read getting into this subculture, was the Sandman series, because it was the most surfaced and accessible.
I love Gaiman very much. But allow me to rephrase: He is popular. =P

And I have learned to grow with Bright Eyes musical transformation. I have a very broad taste in sound.
