Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Meat Puppets
How can you not fucking love them? Ever since getting turned on (found in association with Black Flag and Gun Club on my stumbled part) to these rocking motherfucking brothers I've been addicted to 'em, particularly the early albums.
They're loud. They're catchy. Crazy. Melodic. Not to mention a fuckin prolific discography with eclectic eccentricity punks, crusties, weirdos, hippies, and all good folk can enjoy.
And, like you need anymore:
THAT IS SOME MOTHERFUCKING HAIR

The only Meat Puppets cd i've ever owned (or pirated) was No Joke. This makes me want to listen further...
Any suggestions?

Quit calling me a weirdo, dammit! I remember a couple of Meat Puppets songs they used to play on the radio when I was a kid...

There are like 3 people here whose music taste I can jive with. Sinjob is one of them. Thanks dude, I never heard of them, but just Youtubed and I'm liking what I'm hearing. Also, yes, rec a good starter album.

Too High To Die is probably their most accessible album.
It also has one of my favorite Meat Puppets songs...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDhBt5zipd0
It also has "Backwater", which, I think, was their only hit to make it bigger then college radio (albeit a minor one).
And Sinjob, I still fucking love you.

If you want to get a bit deeper into better albums, I would suggest the next place to go should be Meat Puppets II or Up on the Sun. They're both awesome, awesome, awesome albums.
Seriously, I love these guys so much. I don't know whether I prefer these guys, or the Minutemen.

Only thing I've heard of theirs is What Makes a Man Start Fires? That was good shit though, from what I remember. They're one of those bands I heard, liked, meant to go back to and for no particular reason, just never did. Maybe I'll revisit.

My personal favorite is Meat Puppets II, which features a brilliant array of psychedelia, punk, country, folk, and so much more. Really everything they've done is great because none of it's ever exactly the same.

Meat Puppet II, but of course it's already been said.
I swear to god, Apathy's, one day we have to get stoned and listen to safe as milk.
