I never understood the hype with them.
I thought they were all fucking awful.

Also, I watched Four Lions, and before that, Iron Man 2.
Both fucking ruled.

Saw Iron Man 2! It was really good. Also saw new Nightmare, and it was also really good.
Amazingly, my step-mom put on Avatar (which I had no inclination or drive to see whatsoever) and I thought it was brilliant. Unoriginal plot, but still brilliant.

I finally watched Avatar. I was expecting something visually stunning, but little more. Instead, I found a lot more.

The Human Centipede

I watched The Human Centepede. Got it from a friend at work. I have to tell ya it was one sick film. There are plenty of mad doctor does bad things to people movies out there but this one goes all the way.

You are the middle piece!

La Vie en Rose. Great first half, quickly became dull once she got famous.

Kick-Ass

I loved it - though it probably made better for me by my lack of prior knowledge as to its content. I hadn't even seen a trailer.

Just got back from a matinee showing of Iron Man 2 ... great seats, dead center in the theater with no crowding ... and the flick rocked my socks! Robert Downey Jr really works that role!

It's funny that all the critics say the film retreads the story from the first Iron Man film, while giving it 3 to 3.5 stars out of 4. So, whats so bad about more of a good thing?

Last movie I watched was this:

I was curious to see it mainly because of being the first solo film by Marc Caro who is probably best known for his collaborations with Jean Pierre Jeunet (Delicatessen, City of Lost Children, Amelie). I really enjoyed it, but I don't think it will be for everyone. It's a very deliberately paced, intensely philosophical sci-fi movie with a lot of vague, unsolved stuff at the end that is open to a lot of interpretation. It's basically about a small mental asylum in space where the handful of patients are being psychologically experimented on by a group of doctors who plan on altering their DNA with nanomachines. Inexplicably, a new patient is added to their ranks who never speaks and seems to have the ability to "cure" the other patients by eating some form of invisible energy creature that is causing their problems. Sound weird or confusing? It kind of is. And I sort of like that there isn't much more explanation beyond that.
Anyway...I recommend it if you like unusual sci-fi. It's French with English subtitles on DVD, so if you absolutely can't stand foreign movies, then I guess avoid it.

So did I when I saw it years ago. I loved it, so I bought the DVD about 5 years ago. I still haven't been able to work up the nerve to watch it again.

As did I. Slasher films, even with minor supernatural elements, are a waste unless you're THAT afraid of other people. Maybe if I hadn't spent so much time as a bouncer and security agent, the general nuttiness of other people would be more disturbing.

I watched The Dark Knight again the other day. Heath Ledger as The Joker is still one of the great acting performances of my lifetime.
