Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

You all do realise that in 20 years those kids will all be bitching about how the modern crap they call emo isn't, how they're the only REAL emos, and how no good music has been made since the 2000's, right? I'm not comparing them to goth here, but to subcultures in general. It was that way with fans of industrial, punk, rap, and pretty much every other genre of music invented in the past 50 years. I think it's funny we're so judgmental against emos. I wasn't around when goth music first started, but surely people were saying nearly the exct same things about us?
Lay off the emo kids. They'll be getting all this shit until a new genre becomes the butt of their jokes, and they'll be just as mean as we are now. I think they look like idiots and their music sucks, but I don't whine about how much I hate them, or spread stereotypes about them. I'm better than that.
EDIT: I'm going to get flamed. Yep.

I won't flame XD
I think its the scene kids more than the emo kids who everyone is annoyed with. Scene kids move from label to label, in highschool for me it was punk in which everyone was wrapped up in, before that it was "goths". Emo is just whats "in" right now and in a year or so I'll bet something else will come along.
And a lot of the so cold emo bands like MCR were labelled as punk and goth before. I REMEMBER MUCH MUSIC DONT TRY TO FOOL ME. Its all pop rock music that are trying to please a crowd, the music never really changed at all, just the label so the kids can feel unique and cool.

I seriously don't get why this is being taken so seriously.
Goth and scene and emo are all the same fucking thing with a different flavor.
You tend to dress a certain way, there's smaller subgroups that only people within the scene give a shit about, there's an associated music, some of you are assholes, some of you are cool.

The last sentence made me laugh and it's my first non-offensive laugh toward helpmann's troops.
Dude, No straight man can be this feminine. Even if they're, they'll try do something to turn it upside down.
I'm gay.

Is "tool" your favorite word? You seem to use it to an annoying degree of frequency.

Well, I was straight, for awhile.
Then I found it freakin' annoying to look feminine.
I tried piercing and short hair but I failed.
So, that's why.

that came from an australian newspaper i think...I recall seeing it elsewhere. Freaky those kids. They look like those popular 'plastics' who've just walked out of an explosion. Honestly how can kids walk around wearing cheap, untasteful fashion & call it a subculture?

The worst part is that they always deny it, example:
"are you scene?"
"LIEK O EM GEE I'M NOT SCENE, DON'T LABEL ME, I'M AS UNIQUE AS THE STARS!!!"
