I'm not saying she deserved to be tossed to the ground but has anyone here ever had to face a confused person with alzheimer's?
I worked in a nursing home befor and seen a man slightly smaller than that elderly woman fling a 300 pound cna across the room. They can be qite strong and dangerous.
If it was me and the elderly person wouldnt put down the knife i'd probably do the same thing . The cop didnt know what her problem was hell she could have been tripping for all they knew.....and she had a knife.
But I think I would have tried to coax her a little bit more befor I tackled her....it did seem like a short time to me.....and i probably just would have twisted her arm till she dropped it......
I blame the daughter . My mother is disabled so I do have to take care of her if you know she has alzheimer's the best thing to do would probably be NOT LEAVING HER ALONE. Its her owne caregivers fault no one elses really.

I don't doubt that you have seen violent old folks with Alzheimer's but in the video people were just calmly walking past her without any confrontation, so the cop should have taken that as a cue she wasn't dangerous.

But nooooo, gotta be bad...gotta kick some proletariat ass with a chip on her shoulder. That just proves how UNobservant the cop was in failing to see that no one else was threatened. A scardy cat cop is the worst person to give a gun to.

According to a apparent witness she was:

“swinging a knife at people, when the police arrived she wouldn’t drop the knife so the police officer took her down, the lady also assulted [sic] a kid by hitting him which sparked the crowd of people outside anyway…”

And the footage only started rolling a minute before the police came, with everyone giving her distance. If she wasn't dangerous and everyone was just calmly walking by than why would anybody call the cops? Even when she had her down it looked like she struggled to get the knife out of her hand. Cops are trained to take no chances. And why aren't you commenting on the thread about the unarmed woman who got tazed for trying to walk away from the cop?

Good point, who would consider calling the cops on a old lady if she hasn't done any harm...? She probably was sick minded, drunk, smoked something or maybe her age made her lose her sanity. No one will know currently. xD
