Answers to Questionnaire

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
I've been a computer consultant/nerd for decades. My job recently was outsourced to India. Now I'm trying to sell my novel.

I garden obsessively and ride dressage.

2. Where are you from? Chicago area, Illinois, USA

3. Who is your favorite author? CJ Cherryh, Laurell Hamilton, George R R Martin, Jaqueline Carrey, and many, many more.

4. What are your favorite films? I'm not much of a movie goer. I enjoyed Matrix, LOTR, Pirates of the Caribbean, so i guess that means i like fantasy and swashbuckling action. But I loved Pride and Prejudice (ALL of the versions) too. So I'm not sure what that says about my movie tastes.

I despise Hugh Grant chick flicks. This is, I think, more defining, than a list of what I do like.

5. What music do you want played at your wedding? That happened so long ago, I don't remember what was played!

6. At your funeral? Something LOUD! Maybe with bagpipes.

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die? Everytime depression hits, I imagine all sorts of bizarre, 'interesting' fates. But most of the time, I just want a sudden, painless end.

8. What kind of casket would you want? None. I want a funeral pyre. I was hopelessly twisted by the funeral scene in the movie, Ghandi.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit? Dark blue corset and a huge black taffeta skirt. And big stompy boots underneath.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid? Climbing the old willow tree in the back yard, and hiding up there with a book.

11. What's your favorite band? This changes. I've been revisiting 80s music: SoM, Bauhaus, Cure, Siouxsii ...

I went to a Cruxshadow's concert last month and really loved the show.

I just fell in love with Cinema Strange.

And I have been exploring German industrial groups, new and old.

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major? I have a Bachelor's degree in Physics.

13. Why did you join? To lose weight!!!!!!!! OMGWTFBBQ!!!!!!1!!!
I was browsing some of the threads and just about died laughing when i read that bit. I thought ... WELL, now. Here be some people with the same kind of twisted humor as I have.

Actually, I was looking for music recommendations. And I do have dark literary asperations/pretentions.

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender? Old Lady.

I'm not certain of my reception here. I am fairly new to the goth scene. My musical roots are much earlier than punk/goth/industrial. My high school/ college music was Beatles and Cream and Doors. Clapton IS god.

Oh, god, I never remember to use capitol letters!

I think I like you, and I know I like your name.

May I ask how old, exactly, an "old lady" is?

Dude, we don't care... I was just curious.

I saw Clapton live this year. It was awesome. My current cell phone ring tone is "Wonderful Tonight".

Nobody, but nobody, plays guitar like Clapton.

I love some of the stranger electronic music I have been playing .... but sometimes you just need to hear a good guitar riff.

So, you're in my region, and you garden? What a coincidence... I've decided to learn how to garden this year. I'm totally using you as a resource, if you have no objections. By the way, by "region" I mean the Midwest, USA... Since Minneapolis & Chicago aren't exactly close, but are probably similar climates.

Sure! I'd be happy to help as much as I can. What kind of gardening are you interested in?

I have a big organic vegetable garden, but my heart is in ornamental gardening. You name it, I probably have grown it! I specialize in native plants, rock gardens, and rhododendrons.

.... Er, did I mention that I am a tad bit obcessive?

Well, I can't do a full overhaul of the gardens this year, so I'm going to start with a small herb garden. Next year, I'm re-landscaping the whole yard, though.

Welcome!
I love Laurell K. Hamilton: The Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Novels. They're the only books I read.

I would not categorize you as an old lady, you seem way too cool ... lol Right now, I'm hoping to be somewhat cool at the young age of thirty. Can you believe it, I'm already jaded?!

New to the goth scene?
Well, you could be a babygoth but no one would question you if you said you're an eldergoth. XD

lol = i have FRIENDS who call themselves eldergoths (they are much younger). They finally talked me into going out with them .... and the scene was cool ... and the music was awesome. I just think I'd be presumptuous to call myself goth at this point. Maybe if I stick around until I could model for Whistler's Mother. Gotta EARN those goth points.

Yay another midwesterner, Wisconsin doesn't seem soo boring anymore. I don't mind age at all I like having conversations with the secretary where I work on how she has worked there since she entered it for co-op and that was decades ago, on that note I think I'll have somthing for the politcal section of the forums tomorrow.

Don't hide. You've survived this long, be proud of it. Besides in my opinion age is better - I always feel so out of place around fellow teenagers.

mmmmmmm I do sci-fi conventions and costume a bit.

I am nearsighted enough to not be able to see my wrinkles and i just pretend the rest of the world cant either.

And I loooooooooooooooove my boots

what's the board policy about putting pictures in posts?

Must all pictures go in the one picture thread i found or can i show my boots here?

And are there spoiler tags here so nobody has to see my beautiful boots if they dont want to (or if they have a dial up connection).
