Hah. According to you, that's probably the first intelligent thing I've posted. I guess it's fitting, though, that my last post will be correcting you on a relatively simple matter. You beat EPS in that thing, not Alkilyu. You'd probably beat me, too. I don't care, because I rule.
Oh, and you're welcome.

This is about as far as I got on this thread before my eyes started to hurt, so my apologies if this has since been addressed. (Man! the fuckin' threads are looong here...) *shrug*
Anyway, as I understand it, you can make Absinthe (if you know how, which I do not) you can buy it, you can possess it. What you cannot do is sell it.
So you can buy it if noone actually sells it to you. If you can sprout it out your ass, it's all yours.
We bought it over the internet. It was legal to buy it here, it was legal to sell it there. And the Gov. (USPS) gets to do the actual distributing. Sometimes I love the Internet.

I don't think there's any government so willing to ban something they'd monitor your ass.
Except in airports, and when you get pulled in for sodomy charges.

They removed the ban on it about 2-3 years ago in the states. You can order it directly from many liqour suppliers there and online. Mars Bar, a club I used to spin @ had a special on it every g/i event. They are one of the only pubs I have been too that serve it properly in the states.

Goths are non-conformists. For that reason they cant be conservatives because conservatives look down their noses of those who are different. Nor can they be liberals because liberalism wants a nannny state where everbody is take care of and lives happily ever after like some fairy tale. The world is not some pink and blue padded nursery where the lions lays down with the sheep. Those that lay down get eaten in this world. Thus liberals exist in unreality seeing the world as they would like it to be instead of the way it actually is. Therfore, in mu opinion, a Goth should be libertarian.

never had any problem with any law of any sort. don't smoke, don't care, don't mind.
well, yeah, i got a problem being drunk and riding a bike down to my house in Davis, California. that was funny, the cop asked for a bike license. i just said i was a French not knowing he was talking about and he said i could go home by feet. Once he left, obviously, i used it again, that was almost a mile away.
Hmm also, i spitted on the feet of a cop in SF. too drunk again. finished in hospital.
well, actually, when i think a bit more, i can find loads of occasions. But i don't need to be gothic for that.

I'm just going to skip over the HUGE overgeneralizations in the post and simply ask:

Sound awfully oxymoronic? You're advocating that goths are non-conformist yet suggest they conform?

Most of the subculture is too apathetic to care about politics which is sad. People will bitch and moan about their local clubs being closed but will do nothing about it. They would rather sit back and feel sorry for themselves.

It could be argued though that type of apathy is present in the larger society as a whole and not just the gothic subculture.

I agree. The goth subculture is exactly like mainstream culture. The only difference is that people wear black and dance funny. ;-)

Mmmm, I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's exactly like mainstream culture. Just that there are overlapping tendancies from mainstream culture that reflect themselves in the subculture.

ASBOs may well be introduced here sometime soon, which is Bad with a capital ohshit. No more lurking outside the Central Bank on Dame Street or outside the Temple Bar Music centre - at least, if you don't want to go to prison...

I agree with you-
That's the whole thing about being a subculture and not a counterculture, innit? We hang on to the parts of our parent culture that are useful, so we have to be prepared to put up with some of the bull that they shove at us at times... but not moreso than any other concerned pesron, right comrad? I mean, er... heh heh let's not let 1984 slip by I LOVE THE MACHINE!
sorry.. eheh heh heh...
