Great band you think nobody knows

Have you ever discovered a really GREAT band, and nobody seems to have heard about them? This is a chance to trow around bandnames, and maybe get a new fellow fan.

I'll start.
My favourite band is an obscure, pretty unique band from Norway; Kaizers Orchestra. It is a bit known around Europe, but I doubt there's too many here that have heard of them. That's a pity, they have this eerie feeling in their songs I thing goths world wide would love

Edited because of poor spelling in the tread title.

Kaizers? *laughs* I know them. They've been on the charts here sometimes.

I don't know how well- known they might be in America, but Devics is one band I've come to love which it seems no one else has ever even heard of.

But then again, Minyaliel, we're both Norwegians...

A unique metal/Goth-metal band from Chicago called Yakuza.
The lead singer also plays saxophone and clarinet. The songs open up with an eerie low and slow wail from his sax, then the electric guitars slowly strum in with it, a really different kind of sound. They have a few songs too that are blantantly metal, but most of their stuff is really an original style.

Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come - This album has to be, arguably, one of the best albums ever. For me in any case. This band broke up in 1998.

October Project! I don't know if they're really "unknown" but they have such amazingly beautiful lyrics... *dreamy sigh* Give them a listen! Listen to one of the two earlier albums from '94 or something...

Zombina and the Skeletones. They're a cheezy deathrock band, but so tuneful and awesome!

Here is where I make Draconysius jealous.

Antiworld lives here in my home town of Portland. One of them is an old friend of mine who I used to trade music with, and their singer runs a punk store here called 'Another State Of Mind'. I know her from when I ran a little record store next door to them 10 years ago. Unfortunately, Antiworld doesn't play much here anymore... you know the saying about a band not being appreciated in their home town.

Dinah Cancer of 45 Grave came to one of my club nights in Portland ('Sanctuary') a few years back and introduced herself by name. I didn't actually recognize her at first, and when she said she was "Dinah Cancer" I took her literally for a second, thinking that she probably should have cut down on the cigarettes. Then she gave me a Venus Flytrap CD* and I realized who she really was. She's a Gothmother to us all, and she still looks good at her age, too!

As far as some great bands that nobody knows, I'm going to name Zoar, Devil Doll, and Univers Zero. If there's ever a subgenre called "Progressive Goth", I think these bands should be in it.

* Incidentally, that CD was unfortunately one of the worst things I ever heard. I may have to give it another chance and go listen to it again, but I don't think it will help. It was terrible.

The band I'm about to mention now probably some knows... but (if I'm right) none or very few around here know about it..

Peccatum
This is a band/project by Emperor's mastermind Ihsahn and his wife Irhiel. They're music iis a mixiture of many things. Their music got's stuff like black metal, prograssive metal, industrial, symphonic, gothic metal, experimental rock, and classical music mixed into one very diverse ensemble. I don't know if they qualify as goth music... but they're dark and I think they would appeal to a lot of goths. They often change style in a song and is very dynamic. I like a lot of their lyris as well, my signature is taken from "The Moribound People".

Here's theirmyspace: http://www.myspace.com/peccatum
Here's a musicvideo for their song Moribound People: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkYQXS4_R-E

Funeral Throne are a local unsigned band; black metal trio, very good.

The bassist is a sixth former in my school, I've talked to him a couple of times and it's usually like "OMG FUNERAL THRONE!!" "Rawwwwwwk, warrrrrghhhhhhhh" a couple of horns and then we both just walk off.

EDIT: The K on the end of rawk just changed to Mickey Mouse Klub.

P.s. Isotope, I read your signature. Rozz's got NOTHIN on me. My custom user title says so, which Cicero gave me anyway, so take it up with her. Hahaha. (this, of course, is a joke)

Devil Doll.:

Just amazing, one friend once told me about Rozz William's Pig, she said only 1,334 copies were made.

Devil Doll's The Girl Who Was ... Death had only 150 copies released. Each with a unique inlay created by Mr. Doctor, some writen with Mr. Doctor's own blood. ^^

great music.
