Dude, this has two effects:

a) Readers will see that you cannot focus on an issue, and do not have a long attention span, and from this they will conclude that your understanding of any issue as well as this one is shallow, and thus irrelevant to the debate. You thus lose credibility in the argument you originally sought to defend.

b) This abandonment of the debate will reflect on others of the same opinion, although it isn't accurate or just, there will be generalizations made as a result of your posts. This loses "points" for your cause.

I know but I really don't have the patience or time for atheist extremists.
Too busy doing school work, tattooing and working.

I'd rather act like a dick back to them as they do to me.

I come and go on here and I've been here long enough to know people
and to know whether or not to argue with them and when to quit
for the sake of nothing being achieved.

To be perfectly honest, there are times when I'm arguing with people just because I enjoy it, or on principle, or out of pure personal spite. This may have been one of those times. Still, there are more serious aspects to it. I could go into them if you want, but I think what you really want is an admission that, at least with the attitude I took in this conversation, this is no high-minded philanthropic pursuit.

You can have that admission without reservation, but it also comes without apologies. I often feel kind of bad when I get snippy with a religious person who is genuinely trying to make their religion about something nice, like HP or TLH, but I have zero guilt over a guy like SYL, whose starting point is basically "Yes my god is a real bastard, and he's going to get all you fuckers, hah hah". The dishonesty doesn't help either. I have a real peeve about that.

I suppose I should also point out that the intended audience and addressee are not always the same.
