What the fuck?
Someone I know asked me for a good forum so I redirected them here, expecting them to revel in its glory with such exultant joy as would only be customary on a forum that I am a member of, and they asked me,
"Who wrote the books 'Interview with the Vampire' and 'the Vampire Lestat'?"
"Anne Rice," I replied bemusedly, "but for the love of God don't think for one second that putting Anne Rice in your Introductions thread will win you popularity."
"Oh, that's not what it's for," said they, "I have to answer it."
"Have to?"
"Why yes, I can't register without it." My heart stopped.
Here it is, folks. The qualifying question for registration on Gothic.net is:
"What in the fuck is this shit?" indeed. Explanation please, Gothic.net, this latest fumble is inexcusable.

I was aware of that, but think of the impression that having to answer such a question gives of the Gothic.net community. There are a lot of shit people in the world, by representing ourselves with Anne Rice trivia we build a sluice directly into our abode.

What kind of question do you think would be a better representation? Just out of curiosity.

Well when I signed up they gave me a math question....I don't think it's necessary to be upset about it though.

I kept refreshing the register page and those are the questions that i got:
If you had two black cats and they had 11 black kittens, how many black cats would you have?
What day in October does Halloween fall on?
Who wrote Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat?
What band is Robert Smith in?
What is the traditional color of Goth?
...
I answered the last Pink.. And it said that i gave an incorrect answer..
haha.. I just think it`s funny.

I don't think I'd get that one right.

Either 13 if you do not diffentiate cat from kitten; 2 is you do differentiate, or none because you had them in the past tense. I guess none is the gothiest answer because it implies something macabe happened. Maybe it's a Schroedinger thing and we won't know until we look.. but oh... shit...

So if one were to answer "Howard O'Brien" would it accept it or would that be one of those "What do you mean? European or African Swallow?" kind of comebacks sending Gothic.net into an embarrassed rejection we could point to and laugh at? Some newbie give it a try please and let us know the response.

They should have borrowed questions from the Goth test.

I agree, it's not good. They should make some obvious, yet illogical questions so computers can't answer it. Something like:
If you have a black cat, a white cat and a yellow cat, what colour is the black cat?
Stuff like that.

It goes If You had 2 Black Cats and 11 Black Kittens how many Black Cats would you have...the answer to that is 2 (It only asked how many Cats you would have, not Kittens).
Nevermind didn't see another person answered this already.

Agree. I got the 13 kitties question, but if I had seen the Anne Rice question I honestly don't think I would have bothered to register.
Might just be my short-ish attention span but I couldn't even get through two chapters of Interview with a Vampire. So dull.
Mind you, I didn't really lurk before I registered. I had only browsed the boards for a short while a few years ago and decided to sign up on a whim.

Yeah, they kinda brought that in after about the 2nd time I was banned. The questions are kinda funny. They should have questions like :"Type out π to 10 decimal places." .

Why do you have to complain about stupid shit?
Notice the bots' appearance since the creation of this thread?
I think the admins are teaching us a lesson.

I don't think so, I just tried registering then and I had to answer the question, it wouldn't take ashga;sdghas as an answer.

Why are they asking about Anne Rice instead of Bram Stoker, anyway? If you absolutely have to have a vampire literature question, at least take some classic Gothic horror literature.
