Okay well Jake just called to tell me to go to bed so I think I'm going to go to bed and just kind of chill for a bit to see if maybe I'll fall asleep.
Although that game does sound cool, I'll check it out some time.
Also I hope your heart feel better.

I'm "on call" this week which means if a server decides to take a shit at 3AM I'm the one who gets called to drive in and fix it.

Because they stopped running the Bill Cosby commercials for them and then people stopped buying them?
Seriously, I would contact the company and ask them. I've contacted several companies about products that have been discontinues (Postum, Community Coffee's Chocolate Raspberry Whole Bean Coffee, Doritos original Taco flavor chips) and always get respectful email replies that basically explain it was a financial decision. Doesn't change anyone's mind about it, but at least I get an answer.

Did they discontinue the taco flavor chips recently? I still see them for sale down here.

They have a couple of Taco flavors: "Late Night Tacos at Midnight" (2009) and "Zesty Taco/Chipotle Ranch" (2007), but that's not the original "Taco" flavor. I was enjoying the original Taco flavor from some time in the seventies, and when I moved from Wisconsin to Texas in 1999 I couldn't find the flavor here anywhere.
Finally I contacted the manufacturer and found out that the original Taco flavor hadn't done well in Texas so they didn't sell it here. They also would not ship the product to me, so for a few years I'd just have my dad buy a case now and then in Wisconsin and ship it to me. But recently he told me he couldn't find it in the stores anymore, and it turns out Doritos has discontinued that flavor completely.
Bummer. Because while I like the new flavors okay, they're not as good as that original Taco flavor to me.

I felt that way when they stopped making Surge.

Yep, the disapperance of Surge sucks and makes no sense. Especially when you consider that they still make Fresca and Tab!
I am encouraged by the fact that sometimes things are discontinued ... and then they return ... like Pop Rocks and Black Jack Gum. And sometimes you find that something that you wouldn't expect there is still a market for ... survives ... like Sen Sen!
On another hopeful note, I did enough internet digging to find a recipe so I can make Postum at home.

A student made me feel uncomfortable today at work.
He was wearing one of those shirts with Obama painted as the Joker (can comeone fucking explain me why they do that?) saying "SOCIALISM!"
I saw that he is going to study political science.
I wanted to tell him "dude, you're studying fucking political science! You should know better than your stupid T shirt"

Man, I saw that shirt advertised on I Can Has Cheezburger. WTF?
My roommate usually cleans the cat litter, since Lucy is technically her cat. Seeing as Mercedes is technically mine for now, I'm going to start cleaning it too and I decided to clean out the litter just then. I don't think Kim cleaned it in a while, it was horrible. My legs are shaking and my lungs hurt, it smelled that bad.

I'm getting my ass handed to me in an arguement about the day of prayer, I might need to give up.

Alright, he's saying it should be canceled while I say it should not.
He thinks that because he says it's in violation of the first amendment, but I think that it should stay because it's something that doesn't hurt anyone and brings together a community of people. So he keeps going on about how it's a slippery slope and how we should end that and takegod out of the pledge and off the money, ect.
I'm just not sure how to argue with that because it's a really great point (it being unconstitutional and all) while trying to show him that once in a while you have to let things go for the good of the whole (because I believe it's a positive practice that isn't affecting anything in such a negitive way that it must be stopped, because there'll be not so great repercussions).
I'm not sure how clear that is to read, just tell me if it doesn't make sense and I'll try to say it different.

He's right. Religious ceremonies and occasions should not be state-ordained.

I know, but I don't see a reason to go and stop something that isn't really hurting anyone, it even seems like a positive thing. I mean I could be wrong, I just don't think it should be ended for the reasons in my post above.

I'm not saying that the National Day of Prayer is a bad thing, or that it should be discontinued, but that it is not the place of the state to create it or have any part in its application. Governments exist to serve the population of their country, and should exhibit no bias towards a certain faith, as Christianity has obviously dominated the history of NDOP, or to faith generally. The role of the state is entirely separate from the role of religion.

Yes, you're right about that. That's what he was saying too, which is why it's so hard to argue with him. I was just saying that despite that I still believe it should stay intact because it's a great thing.
I'm thinking of maybe saying that changing a few small things might be a good idea though. For example, as you said it's a mostly Christian dominated event so maybe if we were to try to make it more religiously diverse it would no longer be a problem (as it is in his eyes, which is why we're argueing it). Then it wouldn't seem like the goverment was in support of one single religion.

The simplest thing to do would be to have it organised by religious leaders rather than government.

Oh, that's a good idea too. I think that making changes is fine just so as long as it isn't totally ended.

I'm out of my anxiety meds because the doc that was writing my scripts died of cancer two weeks ago. So now I have to find a new doc.. hopefully she won't make me do a bunch of shit just to get a damn refill.

Yeah, it was hard to win that argument; he's right in pretty much all aspects regarding the legal entitlement of Congress to enact such a day. You chose the wrong side of the argument, man.
