What should I do?
I like the gothic look. I like the gothic ideas and everything else about it. I don't have the style though. My hair is "poofy" and I don't have very pale skin at all. I guess I could for an african american dude...but Yea. Any Ideas what I should do? Any help would greatly be appreciated. =)

Truth.
Be the envy of all your goth pals and flaunt your poofy hair. All that style and no back combing required? Damn, lesser mortals would KILL for that shit.

Agreed. You're lucky.
My hair is flat as fuck no matter if I backcomb and load it with hairspray.
Just wear what you want, listen to what you want, act how you want.
Looks shouldn't really matter.

Well they do matter, in a sense, but they shouldn't dictate who you hang out with and such.
You can look 'normal' and hang out with 'goth' looking people.

Fashion
Fashion design is the art of the application of design and aesthetics or natural beauty to clothing and accessories.

Thanks Peter! I now know the meaning of fashion design....but everyone has their different view of beauty...Some people might prefer some gaudy dresses; others black and dull; others maybe even gaudy and black...^_^ It just depends who you are. =P

Of course it sends a message.
Sometimes people don't take me seriously, some think I'm in drag, some are fascinated, and some think I'm going to be loads of fun to talk to because I look interesting.
But it doesn't make me hang out with a certain crowd.
All I'm saying is this kid can hang out with whoever the fuck he wants, regardless of what his appearance is like.
If you're into the whole 'gothic thing' then go ahead with it. Skin color and hair shouldn't matter.

Looks DO matter. The way you dress sends out a very distinct message about you. Would you turn up to a business meeting in ripped jeans, a shirt held together with safety pins and so much eyeliner pandas would be jealous of your black eyes? No, no you wouldn't because it doesn't give out the right message. EVERYBODY judges people on the way they look, even if they don't realise they are doing it. 'Looks don't matter' is bullshit. It's why hordes of kids all dress the same, they want to be part of the in crowd, so they use their appearance to send the first signals to the people they want to hang with that they are the kind of person they'd get along with cos hey, we dress the same so we must have things in common.
EDIT: this isn't directed at anyone in particular. I'm just sick of hearing the same tired crap that looks don't matter and it's only what's on the inside that counts.

I agree with you MC. Haha
I should have worded my 'looks don't matter' statement differentely.
I meant to say looks shouldn't/don't matter to the people you hang out with.
Your friends should't decide whether or not they are going to hang out with you based on how are dressed and what have you. (though it happens all the time)
OF COURSE looks in the 'real world' count (job interviews and the like)

I wish you the best of luck on your decision .

Looks shouldn't matter, but unfortunately they do. People will always judge one another solely based on appearance. Fact!
