Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Best Emo Music?
Alright, list Emo Bands on this thread. Before doing so READ THIS BLOG:
http://gothilk.blogspot.com/2010/07/saving-emo.html
I think Ben Folds Five and Bright Eyes are the Best Emo Bands.

Ben Folds Five is considered Emo? O.o
From what I've seen, I'm not really a fan of the music. But, to each his/her own.

That blog post isn't a very good representation of what emo is and what bands fall in that category. For one thing, emo has nothing to do with New Age philosophy. Neither Ben Folds Five nor My Chemical Romance are actually emo bands. In fact, I'm pretty sure the post has to be a joke. =/

Techno: No, unfortunately, I believe Catch is 110% serious about her post.

Wahtever, I remember when Emo actually started. It was way different from everything on the market. In fact, I distinctly remember listening to an Emo band and thinking, "This is crap. Why are teens listening to this anyway?"
So before the marketing gets out of hand, now that it is popular to be Emo, I have created the blog as a marker so one day someone will work it out.
Though I didn't like Emo, though some of it is alright, I would like their to be a rainbow of differentiation in music and style. It seems anything becomes popular the same old has beens come in trying to make it seem as though their style is the only style anyone could ever love or relate too.
It is also odd how Justin Timberlake is still Hip-hop even though it is also prefered by Emos.

(I actually like Ben Folds and Bright Eyes, so could recall the lyrics and look them up. Otherwise, in general not a resource for other Emo songs. I just know what it sounds like.)

Emo is a very underground style of music. Listen to "ruiner of life". Thats a real emo song...

Never really was fond of that 'real' emo music shit, which was really just post-hardcore taking a whinnier step in the dark. Jawbreaker and Rites of Spring aren't too bad, but that's about it.

That was a real emo song. Most emo bands dont even get three albums out and they are rarely ever heard of. Mostly local bands, that fail to make a living off of music...
