Hey, who knew this thread in General was legit?

Journalist's request for professional Goths

I just read the resulting article (linked to in the last post by admin Gothic.net) and like it a lot! I'm thinking the recent troll outbreaks caused another overreaction, but the Journalist did a good job.

I don't think it's wrong of them to ask. You have a choice on whether to answer or not ... and can also choose to answer yes or no.

It was a valid request. I wouldn't have answered it, but I wouldn't have closed the thread either. Just my opinion.

I just streamed the Blondie/Doors remix "Rapture Riders" and it's the closest I've felt to tripping since I quit using drugs. I think I like it, but it sure is strange.

You can stream it here:

I just had my first Jelly Bellys recently. I said, "No thank you, I don't care for jelly beans." ... I was told, "You'll like these!" and they were right.

How do they get those amazing flavors SO right?

"Squeak squeak squeak!" says the rat.

What do you store your heavy velvet cape in for the summer?
Goth balls.

Why is it so hard for goths to get work?
Because all they can do is mope the floors are depress the buttons.

What did the vampire say when he looked in the mirror?
"So nice not to see you again"

Wayne Hussey dies and goes to heaven. At the pearly gates, he meets up
with Gabriel who gives him the grand tour of heaven. While touring he
sees many familiar faces including Jimi Hendrix, Ian Curtis, Mary
Shelly, and of course Nick Fiend kinda shows up once in a while... And
then he sees Andrew Eldritch Sitting on a HUUUGE throne.. Wayne Says to

"It's not dead Sir, it's just dreaming."

How many goths does it take to make cheesecake?
None, there are no goths in cheesecake.

Old goths don't die, they just need less makeup.

Two goths are having sex. (Strange, I know, but true.) Suddenly, the
girl goth comes.
"Darling, darling!" says the boy goth, "what's wrong?"
"Nothing," says the girl goth, "nothing at all. Why?"
"You moved."

"*That* was no *goth*! I'm a *necrophiliac*!"

How does a perkygoff paint his ceiling black?
He dyes his hair and starts bouncing.

Man, that's not even the first time a malcontent posted that particular list of goth jokes here. I've seen that list put up here by a troll before, and it was boring the first time.

So, Blawk, (he said with baiting breath) how's tricks? Whatcha been up to? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?

I passed on the popcorn, but was really suprised by the banana! Am I correct in understanding that there is a cheesecake flavor. Oh, now that would be my undoing!

Yay for Eyes and her murder-inspiring, Jelly Belly hogging feast! Whee!

*big sigh of relief* I had been stressing out about a research paper but I already have five pages written in about two and a half hours. I'm going to work on it tonight but I'll definitely have a good deal done soon. And that's awesome.

I also got Neopets: The Darkest Faerie game today. I'm going to play it tonight or tomorrow whenever I get the time. And I don't care if it's geeky. XD

Since I stop by every few days or so, I post a whole lot. I don't suppose that bothers any of you.

Winged, I'm glad your making progress on the research paper. My particular blend of Geekiness does not include Neopets, but I don't hold it against anyone. They're kinda cute.

We're all used to your posting style. I've observed that if you get four or more posts in a row, then you run the risk of being branded an attention whore or some such thing. I really don't have a problem with the way you post, hun. It's all good!

I wonder why the race thread was closed.

I thought that it was a valid topic of discussion.

Racism exists. Why can we not discuss it?

It's open..

I just closed it at 3 am for a few hours of a 'cooling off period'.

Things were getting pretty heated in there, and though our members behaved with intellect and maturity, the racist trolls weren't exactly behaving the same way. Call it a "time out" if you will.

But its open now.. Post away.

Shi'ark, there's no small amount of wisdom in that thought. Many emotional conversations that happen here occur because the person actually just wants conflict.

The trick is to determine early on what people's motivations are. And that is not easy. For instance, I can debate with the best of folks. And I will on occasion even take an opposing point of view just for the sake of argument ... playing devil's advocate. But if I notice either myself or another participant getting too emotional, I try to be aware of that and step away from the table.

This is a lovely place to chat, share ideas, inspire and inform each other, and even entertain each other. But it just shouldn't be a blood pressure raising experience ... unless that is the result of reading some of the wonderful horror and suspense writing featured on this site.

What is the pop that comes out of Japan called?

Jap-pop? No.

I can't remember.

Oh yeah.

I just downloaded some "goth" J-pop. It is somewhat good.

In fact, I would almost say that it is very good. The only drawback is that I can't understand the lyrics.

*Edit* I also downloaded every Type O album, a band called Zeromancer, Massive Attack, Godhead, Hammerfall, and Cradle of Filth.

Expression of the day from www.urbandictionary.com:

chat gravity

The degree of familiarity with another person, which, if you chance to encounter them on the street, will determine if you merely greet them in passing or stop to talk.

We saw each other on the sidewalk and said 'hello' to each other. But she was just a friend of a friend I'd only met once or twice before, and there wasn't enough chat gravity to merit stopping and chatting.

Tenet, I remember when you said that you just hoped you made it to Elder. It's so cool that you're gonna hit Andrew ... and not just for the usual reasons.

I'm all for a party too!
