Roommate went home for the weekend. And took the Xbox.

Thinking of seriously playing the game today, like picking a character and sticking with it. Most likely a Spirit Healer type deal will be my focus.

I really had a blast through DA:O.

My Character originally started out as a proud Dalish warrior in the tradition of the Shawnee's Tecumseh (I killed the humans at the beginning, and was extremly hostile towards the Chantry and only worked with Shems because I had to) then as he saw the horror of the blight, be became 100% about fighting it, to the point where I ignored the morals of my descisions and instead made choices based upon "Will this help to defeat the Arch Demon Y/N" Spoiler: Which of course lead to me sparing Logain and accidentally driving off Alastair He fell in love with Morrigan despite her being a bitch on wheels and eventually disappeared into the wilderness to search for her.

I LOVED awakenings because it felt like an oldschool D&D campaign. Witch hunt was underdeveloped and WAY too short, but at least it continued the story. Golems of A. Was HORRIFYING.

I haven't played any of the DLCs.

Oh, apparently if you drive off Alistair, you can find him in Dragon Age 2 being drunk, as a cameo. Did you see him?

I hardened him (god that sounds dirty) and had him marry Anora, so he left to marry her but at the end he said he wasn't still mad at me for sparing Logain. I didn't deal with Morrigan so Logain died fighting the arch demon.

My mage was pretty happy go lucky, the only time I was a big douche was when I made a deal with Connor's demon and became a blood mage. So basically, I was Merrill before Merrill was Merrill.

Golems was horrifying in its execution/gameplay or difficulty or actual story?

The difficulty of the endboss crossed with how the story ends.

The story itself was kinda gross, but nothing new to DA:O. I've kinda just decided that anytime you go into the deep roads you WILL be horrified.

Well, except in DA:2, when you aren't.

Ahh yeah I get ya, 5 Broodmothers + 1 Harvester = more than enough squick factor.

Even on casual the Harvester is a total bitch to beat sometimes.

I remember when Zero puntuation went off about how DA:O was just fantasy not "Dark Fantasy".

I laughed. DA:2 is straight fantasy so far, but MAN OH MAN did DA:O get CREEPY.

There's supposed to be a rather sad/nasty bit in an Act2, I haven't gotten there myself... but ja.

The Deep Roads were scary in DA:O, but everything else I did find straight up fantasy. Until we got to Hespith I didn't find it more dark than Neverwinter Nights.

They weren't.

You know, I really don't give a crap about all the "gender equality" bullshit you're allways going on about, but I would like you to analyze the psychology behind the horror of the brood mother with an emphasis on **** and stockholm syndrome.

Oh, I'm not touching that. When that part comes up I go in my happy place. We're in the Mines Of Moria! This is just a Balrog!

Could I interest you in an essay arguing that Shale's backstory is a transgender narrative?

Not so powerful as a sexless, bird-hating stone tranny.

As golems are sexless, I don't think they'll mind.

Also: fictional.

Fictional, and yet whenever I hear someone say they killed Zevran for being a fag, I die inside.

Dude, you're writing a Supernatural fanfic. Zevran can never compete with that kind of faggotry.
