I'm too simple?
I suppose this falls under whining. But I'm not sure.
Anyway, I've been told that I'm too simple. Not intellectually simple but easy to please.
For example, a year ago my boyfriend asked me what I wanted for Christmas so I got him to take me to the local Game Stop. I went to the used games section and picked up a copy of Castlevania: Curse of Darkness. I then told him that it was all I wanted.
My cousin told me I was an idiot for doing that and that I should have asked for something better, or at least have gotten a game that wasn't used.
Is there anything wrong with being that way? If so, why?

I'm assuming you were doing it to be considerate towards your boyfriend.
What's wrong with that?

Yes and because that's all I wanted. He kept saying "Get something else too. I'll buy you whatever you want. I don't care what it costs."

Well, I think that's lovely. I know so many people that milk their boyfriends, it's disgusting.

So do I. For instance, he gave me his old Walkman CD player and I had a girl tell me "If he'll give you that instead of giving it to a friend, he'll give you anything. Drag him to the mall and go on a shopping spree."
But I'd never do that and I told her so, so she said "You're too damned simple, you know that, right?"

I'm just hoping that the stupid girls realize how immature they are with relationships when they hit 20.
"It's just a blowjob it doesn't count for anything." "Yeah I can talk to him for hours but i wouldn't date him... he's not hot." I mean for fucks sake.
*sigh*

Nothing wrong with it.
He might feel a bit guilty if you get something extremely expensive, and he gets you a used copy of Castlevania. However, assuming you're equal on that, I see nothing wrong.

I've heard that too. It disgusts me.
I wouldn't do anything sexual to/with someone if I didn't love him or her.

I would do something sexual to/with someone I didn't love (not a blow job though) but I wouldn't say it doesn't count for anything. If someone were to give that girls boyfriend a blowjob, I'm sure she'd have something to say about it, and not just "oh, well, it doesn't count."

It was actually the opposite: I was almost broke and didn't want an expensive gift from him because I couldn't get him an expensive gift.
People have always told me my being simple is bad. I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't see it that way.

True. Very true. I think I would have a few words to say if it were me.

In that case, I don't think you did anything wrong.
Being simple is nice. I find it much easier to live thinking that you only need food, shelter, and a few other basic things, and everything else is a want you can live without. Otherwise, you keep thinking you're not getting something you need.

I unequivocally agree. People will buy a lot of things that they want, but do not actually need. That is just what our society has morphed into. One big shopping mall.

I think that what you did was great, if people make their happiness depend on something big or expensive, they'll get disappointed alot in their lives...

OOhh Corpsey!!!
And I think it's nice that you only wanted that, My friend told his girlfriend she could have whatever she wanted, then she asked for a damn Computer. She dumped him because he couldn't get it lol.
She made a big deal out of it just because he said "He'd get her anything"

True, true.
There are alot of things that I want but because I don't need them, I don't really care about those things.

That's true. I'd rather give someone something than have them give me something. I actually get embarrassed when people give me things unless it's my birthday or Christmas.

I think that's great that you are considerate, but I also think that it may have been better just to tell him what you want.
After all, part of the joy of gift-giving is for the giver as well as for the receiver, and there's nothing wrong with letting him get you something nice for Christmas. ^_^ Let part of the gift-giving be his decision as well as yours. If he loves you, he'll gladly give you something you want....expensive or not....and not expect a big, fancy gift back.
*NOTE: This does NOT mean that I am in favor of milking a guy for all he's worth, or that folks shouldn't show consideration for each other financially. Just saying that getting a nice gift for Christmas [say, a new copy of Castlevania instead of a used one], isn't a bad thing either. *
