I used to like Placebo around the time of their first album, up to "Without You I'm Nothing". But when the buzz wore off, and I realized they were never gonna evolve into an interesting band, I stopped listening to them.

A friend of mine actually gave me "Meds" to check out just the other day, though, so I'll give it a listen and get back to you with my verdict.

Placebo was my favourite band back during a time when I was extremely happy, and thus hearing their familiar sound will always remind me of that time. They're one of the only bands that I don't mind having no evolution from. I like the sound as it is.

Damnit, I really want to hear Meds now.

I've heard of them, but I just haven't heard anything by them.

I might have to check them out. What genre are they?

I love them! Meds is a great album, my boyfriend got it last week and I've probably listened to it more than he has!

As to their genre, I'm not sure exactly. I've heard them described as "indie" and "alternative rock" but that's a bit vague really! They use more synth than they used to, but they're still a guitar-based rock band at heart. You could always try listening to samples on Amazon, WolfMoon

hm... don't really like them. Although 'a song to say goodbye' did appeal to me... it's catchy.

I love the song "Twenty Years". I'll probably get the new album.

I heard them described as a "Sado-goth power trio"...
Much laughter ensued.
