By the way, for grins I did use the question machine, and here is the result, exactly as it arrived in my email:

On Friday, March 31, 2006 you asked the following question;

Does evil exist?

The following answer has just been sent to you;

If good exists then evil must also exist or there would be no counterpoint by whcih to judge what is good.

I have changed my mind, though.

I have become more atheist. So, my belief in evil has wanned a bit.

I'm not sure it's evil. Looks more like "unbelievingly stupid" to me.

Okay, Tenet, thanks for pointing that out to me. It's good to know there is a thread for that. I'm reading it now, and see no nead to threadjack this topic further.

Please continue the inportant task of discussing the pros and cons of Hot Topic. (j/k)

I'm going to HT tomorrow to see if they have any nice shoes so I can't knock 'em right now.

If I come back without cool shoes for the last dance of teh year, though, I can knock 'em all I want. Grrrrrrr. D:

Where is Ross, is it a chain that I can find in New England? Also, do they sell items for guys, too?

They sell stuff for men, but I dunno if they're in New England as well, or if they've got a ton of antique-y stuff in the men's department.

What ever happened to Fashionable Male? That catalog had a really great Fall and Winter lineup, and my gay friend dug the Summer catalog with all the speedos....

Of course, this was back in the mid to late 90's, and I don't think they exist anymore. At any rate, they were a fabulous alternative to Hot Topic, and in fact, one of the only sources of formal, non-punk-esque goth fashion for someone who didn't have his own car growing up in Salt Lake City, especially before Hot Topic even existed (or was allowed in the state).

I've never been to Hot Topic.
The minute they start selling stuff that's somewhat funny, I'll buy.
Otherwise, I'm good.

well

if I don't want to do my shoping online I have to go there (maybe Skinnies) because I live in a Very Anal Rentive state where there is mostly no cultuer and everything is a copy of something else/ commerical, so I am kind of forced into shoping there if it can't be found a thrift or I don't feel like making it myself.

p.s. I live in VA Beach, VA

This may have been it, but I'm pretty sure it was Fashionable... but, like I said, years ago.

I'm still pining for a sewing machine.

My fiance used to buy some pants from there back in the day. More then 3 years ago. He never went in to buy them. Maybe he was scared. XD

Lebanon is DEFENITELY Hot Topic free. It's ok, though. I usually buy my clothes from abroad, but there are some decent shops here.

Don't think we have Hot Topic here in England. Yet.

Though wherever the long arm of the internet reaches...

I'm pretty sure Canada is Hot Topic free... If it comes here though, it'll come through Vancouver, Toronto, or Montreal. A lot of American stores come through Vancouver, and Toronto is our biggest city, and Montreal is... well... Montreal. So yeah. That's my theory.

Ok, I saw this thread, and read through it a bit, and I thought, No way, Hot topic was awesome the last time I was in there, Well I went to the mall last night, and of course, went to Hot Topic. The only thing i even liked a little bit was a t-shirt with a purple fairy on it, and I didnt like it enough to pay 25 bucks for it. Hot Topic online still has some cute stuff though.

I am ambivalent about the place. I think it has become to mass market to be truly Goth. I personally shop at thrift stores to buy all of my clothing and unique shirts. Hot Topic is "trendy goth", which is contradiction in terms. Furthermore, there are not enough books to be sure, so I am leaning away from shopping there.

I don't really like Hot Topic... I have one (repeat, one) pair of their pants... from like 5 or 6 years ago that I bought a few sizes too large for me... now they fit, and are nifty. Now... I buy nothing from there... to mainstream.

I find the clothes there a little too boring for my tastes. I've never actually been to the shop though... Just browsed the online store. I can imagine the quality of the clothing would suffer due to the mass production.
