Because people are stupid/and or lazy and will pay for it.

I'm wondering if she takes steps to avoid the natural decay that the clothing goes through as the long-term result of the bleaching process.

The DIY Bleached t-Shirts I made are full of holes after a year or two.

If they weren't expensive I wouldn't really have an issue with it as she at least has some skill with making stencils and the shirts do look good, then again her prices are pretty high so that is kind of a moot point.

We even had an online music library where artists contributed their music and we had samples of new tracks. I helped develop that (back in 1999).

The site then was bought by a new owner and the content was pared down to just literary works, which can be seen here:

https://www.gothic.net/_blog/category/fiction/

That being said, it was updated bi-weekly and we had a dozen or so contributors including many famous writers like Poppy .Z Brite who would post new bits every few weeks.

That too stopped a few years ago - the items stopped getting updated, and the 'fiction' section was born and has yet to ever be updated.

Today its merely a shell of its former self. A dozen or so regular users posting on the forums, which initially were all linked to parts of the website (i.e. the News forum linked to the news articles which were posted, the literature forums were linked to the stories of the week, etc.).

After it was sold all funding was removed. After the funding was removed we didn't get any more famous people contributing. We also stopped getting all the kewl merch.

I have four or five of the Gothic.Net t-shirts we used to sell here (we had about 20 designs) plus a few bumper stickers and of course the most popular item the rolls of 'Goth Points' we used to send out for almost free (just charged shipping) to anyone who wanted to slap them on something important and take a picture. We also would post free goth points to people who did/posted/said something kewl on the site - free of charge.

For example I have pictures of bands like KMFDM, Haujobb, Bella Morte, etc. that when I was running events up the East Coast I put Gothic.Net Goth Point stickers on their speakers and amps and took a picture of sure.

Alas, those were the days...

What I've been wondering for awhile is, why couldn't we simply get a bunch of interested investors together to buy up the site. Surely the owners would be willing to sell the website as they are obviously not interested in actually taking care of it, and I doubt that any of us could possibly do any worse than what the current administration is doing now. Perhaps even with the help of our gnet historian(Stern) we could bring about a second gnet golden age.

I think Gothicus mentioned he was interested in buying the site.

I think he should just create Gothicus.net and set up some forums there. I'd troll the shit out of those forums.

He was pretty serious, but Gothic.net completely avoided his post and took no note of it whatsoever. Maybe he should talk to the Blueblood owner and he would have some success.

My theory is that this site is owned by someone related to the alt porn scene out in LA. That would explain why there are so many pornographic ads on this site, and why uttering the name "BlueBlood" is one of the few things which seems to almost guarantee attracting moderator attention.

Plus when the moderator was defending that bondage porn site he somewhat implied that he knew and admired it's supposed "owner" and frontwoman, and seemed to think a career in porn was somehow comparable to being a legitimate professional actor.

My guess is, the site's current purpose is to simply draw in random web traffic, simply by virtue of it's domain name being "Gothic.net" and then redirect it to the porn sites, resulting in advertising revenue for the site owner and memberships for blueblood from guys who can't figure out how to land a goth chick on their own (Protip: Remind her of her father, but also wear makeup).

Gothic.com is a place holder for porn sites as well if I'm not mistaken.

Shush Desp that kind of honest and open talk could lead to banning.

Yeah dude, every Man, Woman & Child to have tried to talk moderately to Gothic.net about it's origins and commenting on its behavior has gone to the land of eyeball sporking.

You misunderstand me; every major member that has logically reasoned with or about Gothic.net has been banned, abrasive or not.

Well, that is not quite accurate: I created a thread about the history of Gnet which went up to a 100 posts and I survived without being sporked to this day:

I offered to buy it as well, no response at all. I have the money sure. At the end of the day I own my own servers and IT company - I just need the domain and source files and can have it up and running in a day or two tops.

In fact, if others are interested we could as suggested above buy it as a group (setup a limited partnership) and I would offer my servers to host it and the DNS/mail - at no charge to anyone.
