What amazes me is how much power families seem to have to make you feel terrible, even when one is old enough to know that they're just getting mad for completely unrelated reasons.

I went to Pride yesterday and got sunburnt.
It was really cloudy when we left, and was supposed to be for most the begining of the day, so I left the sunscreen at home.
Then it got really sunny for about an hour or two.
My shoulders and chest reallllyyyyy hurt-__-
I haven't even had a slight tan for seven years or more.

CC, not that it's much help at this moment, but you can get just as sunburned on a cloudy day. Clouds don't block the UV rays that cause tans and burns.

Any time you're going to be sitting/standing outside with exposed flesh during the main part of daytime for any length of time, sunscreen should be a consideration.

I'm really sorry you're sore and burned. Cold cream helps make it feel better. And they make some after-burn products with aloe vera that help it heal.

(Make sure any aloe vera product you use does not have alcohol in it. Some of them include alcohol as a drying agent, but that will play hell with your burn, as well as any moisturizing lotion that has alcohol in it.)

I know about the cloudy days and still being able to get burned, we were under trees most the time as well though.
It just so happend that when it got real sunny out I was standing in line to get some henna done, and that 15 minutes in direct sun + walking around in some of the clouded weather just added up.
I put some aloe on it this morning and it helped a bit, but my shower was just awful. haha
I'll have to go look for some cold-cream at the store though, because this isn't working for me. haha
Thanks

Yeah, cold cream will seem like a merciful balm. Trust me, I've been there!

I fucking hate getting farmers tans and burning. Applying sunscreen all the time is also a PITA. That's why I bought a mighty parasol! It matches the olde lady skirts I buy at the thrift store. Thankfully there's someone in the area my size who's getting tired of their nice long skirts, lately.

^_^ Yes, send Gamma Wolfie all of your pretty skirts. ^_^

I have been in Hawaii for a day now and already I am burnt. It hurts. But so worth it.

Yeah, tanning is better than burning. When skin peels off so does the tan.

Aww, you make me feel all appreciated and stuff, thanks hun.

I have a fridge magnet that says "Friends are the families we chose" - that pretty much sums families up for me.

Slices of tomato are supposed to be good for sunburn.

My fridge magnet says "Before I say yes, can I take another look at your dick?"

Since tomato juice is an acid, and putting acid (or alcohol) on a burn is bad, that seems counter-intuitive to me.

Why throw your vices away for one person? Find someone who embraces them with you! Break ups do suck. I hate when people start sucking enough to make you walk out the door. If I ever end up single again, I will enjoy my freedom and remain a free woman the rest of my life. Enjoy the time you have to make yourself happy. Many people fear being alone, but it's the time alone that you should treasure most, for both the selfish and non-selfish reasons.

I have to get off my lazy bum and clean today, then exercise. That's what I'm gonna be doing when I log off.

Hey it was just one of those things I saw on TV, never tried it myself.

When I was a kid my mother used to put calamine lotion on, which is great if you want to walk around wearing white dusty stuff on your skin - but that's the best stuff for burns. Keep it in the fridge and it is like magic. I also used to sleep on damp towels, that helped.

Graus I'm never getting into another relationship again after this one. But the present relationship is just ticking over. Maybe it will start again, who knows.

The chocolate/caffiene is going to have to go because it upsets my stomach, like alcohol, dairy and wheat based products, and I'm sick of feeling blah (which is the other side effect of the bad food choices).

Moving on Monday, which means my birthday tomorrow will be spent packing and cleaning. I was planning on doing a quiet one with my close friends in the eve and saving the proper carnage for the new house, but it doesn't look like there'll even have time for that now. Packing is bad enough, but CLEANING? Shower of cunts.
