what's your favorite conspiracy theory? (or the stupidest one you know)

another, from an old man, that all the new species begin discovered on earth are just alien experiment dumped for testing on the planet.
hoping for funnier ones if you got them.

I believe Reagan's October Surprise has some merit.

Well, that's kinda outside the realm of conspiracy theory in and the realm of "fuck if you can ever prove it."
Favorite: "Jew Illuminati". Me and my gf have quite a few laughs about these theories. They're just... insane.
Dumbest: Scientology. A religion created by a fiction writer to win a bet. That in and of itself would have made me buy the guy a shot, but the fact is that nowadays the whole nonsense gets scarier and scarier.
Runner Up: Dinosaur skeletons are planted to tempt people away from Christianity.

My favorite is from my Father-in-law.
That red light on the cable box turns on when the government is watching you.
Second from my friend.
All cars are computerized now so that when the government decides that we are using them too much, they can shut them off.

Theoretically possible with next-gen cars. Most of the proposals have networking capabilities for everything from driving directions to contacting other drivers for "social networking". The side-effect is that any car with that technology could theoretically be taken out remotely, regardless of whether or not it is designed to be possible or not.
A friend of mine is convinced that Google is tracking his web browsing, so he'll clear him computer cache after using google to search for whatever.

that is hilarious.
the thing about the cars and remotes and tracking - pretty much what happened with mobile phones. (i'm half expecting some one to they they were developed just so we could all be tracked)
haven't heard the "Jew Illuminati" one - what's up with that?

Favourite: the government is secretly encouraging kids to drop out of high school and take up apprenticeships to replace the retiring baby-boomer tradespeople.
I'd have to say the Dinosaurs-are-to-test-our-faith/Dinosaurs-used-to-be-our-pets theory is pretty good.
Another good one: AIDS was engineered by the World Health Organization to increase the death rate.

Kleenex contains a chemical that induces sneezing, so that you use all the tissues and need to buy more Kleenex.

Elvis's death being a cover up because he was under witness protection from the CIA.
Meritless, but it makes me wonder what else will become a bizarre conspiracy.

There is some merit to the theory that AIDS was created in an American laboratory.

I saw a documentary once that presented some pretty plausible arguments for this one. They claimed the footage and stills were fake, because the flag planted behaved in a way that would be impossible because of the lack of gravity on the moon. Physics isn't my forte, but if that's true (and it sounds pretty plausible to me) I believe that at least the footage is fake.
Funny thing, they claimed the footage was shot by Polanski, so I guess you could take the whole crazy conspiracy theory one step further to encompass that whole paedophilia incident. It's definitely my favourite!

Uh....I consider the most stupidest one to be the one about Shakespeare being a cover up for somebody else and that he didn't write a single thing.God how I laughed at that =)) here's a quote
"Prepare to enter the Web of Intrigue
Was William Shakespeare really the author of the greatest Literature the World has ever known?
Conspiracies & Spies, Secret Societies & Lies! Is this the biggest cover-up of the last 500 years?
There are countless clues and red herrings but the copious amount of information available on the Internet could well provide the key to unlock the secrets hidden in the past and the identity problem. Many vital, perhaps seemingly unconnected, pieces to the jigsaw could well be available but the connection has not yet been made... " People are idiots =))

Here's a page with a bunch of links to Apollo moon hoax sites and debunking sites:

You can make your own judgment (hint: one conclusion is correct, and the other one is wrong).

Damn, I was mistaken about Polanski, it seems it's Kubrick who supposedly shot the 'fake footage'. And it all sounded so juicy! Now, to find something they did to Kubrick to shut him up...

Mythbusters busted that whole theory. The flag moved exactly as it would on the moon.
