OverCaffeinated, the most likely scenario of an individual using a firearm or really any sort of weapon against a police agent or force is "Suicide By Cop."
Guns are cool, owning guns responsibly is cool, but they are essentially useless to ensure personal liberty against a modern oppressive state. That's political pandering, with not basis in reality. Oppressive states employ individuals who have better equipment, training, and teammates than the best guy at your local gun club. Simply put, you are not going to win that arms race. Red Dawn was a fun movie but it was fantasy. Watch it; laugh, cry, cheer, whatever, but it's a movie. If you're going to own let alone carry, a firm grounding in reality should be the number one prerequisite.
Police brutality and rights abuse affect everybody. It affects some groups of people more heavily and/or frequently, but it isn't good no matter who it happens to.
