....I would not be flamed and ridiculed when dropping in after about a year's absence. But since it's not:

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
I have way to much homework to do anything. However, I recently got involved in women's activism and actually started practicing my guitar. Hopefully, these will form in to hobbies.

2. Where are you from?
Originally, New York. The rich asian part though, which is still a little rough.
I'm currently attending boarding school in New Hampshire, which is the most sheltered experience ever after coming from New York.

3. Who is your favorite author?
My wonderful former roommate turned me on to Neil Gaiman, and I recently finished a book by David Sedaris, which was just for laughs. I've always enjoyed Hans Christian Anderson for his morbid fairy tales, which would explain my enjoyment of As I Lay Dying.

4. What are your favorite films?
Pan's Labyrinth, Constantine, Silence of the Lambs, some Saw, Hayao Miyazaki films, and 300 only because I'm a classics kid.

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
Hm....I'm really not sure....

6. At your funeral?
Organ music (?) I lack creativity in this area.

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
1) Hypothermia, because you're warm right before you die, so at least you die smiling.
2) Two shots in the head, just to make sure.

8. What kind of casket would you want?
Obsidian with satin lining and much padding.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
Black jeans with any shirt at all, and my tallest black heels.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
Being cute. Oh and recently, nappy time.

11. What's your favorite band?
Don't have much time nowadays to sit down and appreciate music, so mostly stuff pandora gives me, but I enjoy some Insomnium, Aqualung, NIN, Linkin Park....and musical theater (Phantom of the Opera, Rent).

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
I want to go to med school, and eventually be a psychiatrist.

13. Why did you join?
I joined in my loserish emo phase, but I came back because of the lack of good social interaction at this school.

I lived in Manchester for a good portion of my life there, but also in the northern part of the state, Hillsboro, Goffstown and Weare, etc. Don't know if you're familiar?

Because the 2007 film "300" is a work of romanticized fiction, created by Frank Miller from his 1998 comic miniseries "300" which in turn he based in part on the 1962 film "The 300 Spartans." While a popular film, "300" has been widely criticized for being historically inaccurate. It would pain many to hear it called a classic.

I was never much interested in the comic, but read up on this before seeing the film and read a couple of decent essays on it. This time I went to Wikipedia for the quick source.

If you seek the classic, more accurate rendering of the Greek-Persian wars, read "The Histories of Herodotus", written between 450 and 420 BC. If you want a modern historical accounting of the Battle at Thermopylae (and opinions vary, so others here might have a better recommendation), I hear good things about "Thermopylae 480 BC: Last stand of the 300" by Nic Fields. But almost anything is going to be more historically accurate than the popular but cartoonish "300".

Sadly, my school is weirdly isolated from the rest of civilization. We call it "the Exeter bubble". The farthest I've been is probably Portsmouth, which is pretty sad.

Yeah, that I researched too, because I was surprised how many bad reviews it got, and I still like it despite its numerous historical inaccuracies probably because I'm a romantic. Or maybe because it was just much more exciting than my Latin texts.
Much of the reviews kept talking about how it was an oversimplification of the situation though, which, from my perspective, was just a misunderstanding of the Spartan philosophy.
