Not at all. Once I screwed up the format of my script, and my professor almost threw it up at me. He was really annoyed, told me that, if he was to read a script in such an eye-tiresome format, he would become pissed off within ten minutes, and since he was the one to grade me, it really wasn't in my interest that he becomes pissed off (he didn't really say anything vulgar, this is just my re-telling of the situation). And, of course, he requested a properly formatted script.

Blimey!

How did you feel?

I would've been gutted. I mean, I would have taken the point but there would have been some serious licking of wounds happening afterwards...

For a little while, I felt like a scolded schoolkid; I was 23 at the time, and it was quite a while since anyone made me feel that way.

But pretty soon, I found the entire situation humorous, and a few days later returned with properly formatted script.

Oh good. I'm afraid I would have been smarting over it for days.
Did he rollock you in front of anyone? I had a teacher back in grammar school who took great delight in doing that - in front of a whole class, I mean. Not surprisingly, we all called him 'Grizzly'.

In front of several other students, yes.

They all looked away, glad they were not in my place. *chuckle*

Nobody was really surprised, we all knew what he was like. And he was still one of the very best professors we had (I'm not being ironic here, he really was a great professor).

....Which is why he could continue doing that kind of thing.

At least he wasn't like another one of my teachers - a Miss Caron. Or Carrots, as we all called her. If you said someone she didn't like, she'd curse at you in Welsh, then take a swipe at you with her handbag. And I'm talking one of those hefty door-wedge 1970's things. I swear she must have filled it with horseshoes...

So! Did it all end happily, with you getting a fab grade? I bet it did.

Not fab, but not bad either. I got an 8 (the best is 10, the worst still passable is 6), and three months later, after another exam (which included writing a play) and another 8, I got a diploma.

And, after being a student, became unemployed. But since I now manage to write for a living, even though I'm still officially unemployed, this little story has a very happy ending.

Hey, not bad then!

I'm in a bit of a funny situation vis-a-vis writing.... Officially I'm a writer, although as I may (or may not - my memory's shot at the moment) have already said, I'm not actually getting paid for any of my work just yet. I had been a teacher (12 years) and before that, a psychologist (3 years). Then 2 years ago, I jacked it all in. I'd been writing, but frankly all the school stuff was getting in the way haha!

So, to pay the bills, I now work 3 days a week at a health food store in town (which is how come I'm usually spouting herby nonsense in other threads!). Ah yes, fame costs... but so does food and electric. Plus it's a great way of collecting 'characters' for my work.

So, happy endings for all! Here's to it!

For happy endings!

And, to stop this thread-jacking (although it was an informative off-topic conversation ), I'm writing 3-6 articles per day, and I'm also in the process of world-building for my novel.

Im usually writing horror stories relating to demons and destruction and blood 'n' but right now Im currently writing a story called Temporary Insanity and its about the insane and destructive lives of college roommates in ohio. I have one goth girl in it whom my friend suggested to put in and I will be sure to include Ouija activities and such. That is all.

Thread-jacking it may have been, but boy, it was certainly informative! Format is SO important, and you never know - we may have averted a block-caps disaster for somebody!!

One other thing... world building? Do tell! Do! Do!

If that's okay....

Oooh! Would I be right in assuming you have some experience of college roommates in ohio? You know, the whole 'write what you know' thingy.

What's the 'such'? Have you decided yet?

Nope I have no experience because I am only 13 and in the 8th grade but I really look foward to having college roommates when I get older because of this website: http://www.roommatetricks.com/
lol. The " 'n' such" is more activites relating to the goth girl and ead and insanity such as blimps exploding as you watch in fear out of your window. I will start a thread later posting the story there.

Writing on a rainy thunderstormy friday in a cafe by the window while drinking a french vanilla cappuchino is a great way to get the juices flowing an dembrace the darkness if youre writing a horror story.

Ah. Yes. I just saw your profile. Excuse me. You just seemed pretty mature and grammatically correct.

I look forward to seeing the story!

It's okay, since the world itself is not "wow, nothing like this was EVER done before!". Basically, our own world, but with vampires, werewolves, half-demons, half-angels and other supernatural creatures. I'm working on social structures of non-humans, especially vampires.

Hmmm.... sounds yummy.....

So would humanity be an 'ethnic minority' as it were, on this world?

No, not at all. Humans are a majority, and they see everything non-human as 'monsters'. While non-humans are legal citizens too (except for half-demons and half-angels, because very few humans are even aware of their existence), the law is very harsh on them. For example, it is against the law to have sex with a (human) minor, but a human who did it would get a prison sentence, while a vampire would get the death sentence, even if the said minor screamed at the top of his/her lungs that he/she wanted to have sex with that vampire.

That sounds like it could get a bit allegorical. I like it!

It probably will be a bit allegorical, in the "hey, not everyone who is different from you is a baby-eating monster!" way. Glad you like it!
