Fucking awesome party at my house last night. Guests didn't leave until 7:15-ish AM. Turns out that the dude I was listening to goth rock and snuggling with is some BMX champ or something (don't really care, but it's nifty). Pretty fucking awesome dude. We sang Siouxsie together.

It made my day to finally be able to afford to buy plane tickets for my family reunion on the beach 9 days before the trip date. I'm scraping by, but once there all I have to pay for is breakfast, lunch and snacky stuff (supper is covered every night) and some beer for sitting on the back porch later each evening in a rocking chair while reading a book and watching the ocean waves.

But it's tight so I'm seeing if I can get by for a week on nothing but what I can pack in my laptop case and a carry-on bag. If I can avoid having checked luggage, I can save $50 in baggage fees. And I really need that $50 for other things!

Which is why it also made my day to buy batteries, flip-flops and suntan lotion at the 99 cent store!

It sucks being unemployed ... but I always say if you want something bad enough and keep thinking positive thoughts, it will happen. Works for me every time for trips I want to go on like this. Now if I could just put that kind of good positive ju-ju on my job search, it'll all work out.

I hope it hasn't gotten too bad yet. The last time we had a bad streak of luck with layoffs we got to the point of eating baloney sammiches and bean stew on a regular basis... you'd be surprised how long you can make a 10 lb bag of beans last.

*Making a mental note to price out 10 lb bags of beans.*

They're kind of a pain in the ass to prepare... soak them over night or let them boil and soak for 2-3 hours, then strain them before you cook them.

And don't forget beans need a starch to go with them, corn, rice or bread.

Rice is also hella cheap too and is another excellent staple...

Happy Birthday!

I got to help out with the opening ceremonies for Pride week! They give free drinks but apparently there's been problems with people going overboard, so they're still free but rationed. I was at the door giving out ticket stubs for two drinks each. I got to meet some really awesome people.

After a recent brief reference (get it, "brief" ... *chuckle*) to how odd it is that superman wears his underwear outside of his tights was made in the Wonder Woman thread, it tickled me to find this cartoon:

Ahahahahaha!

Sorry, what? Was there some imminent danger of this not happening, or is it just the general "It's good to be alive" type post?

It just made my day to find 'Inception' a four-star mind trip (NBC) and Inception - four stars (Roger Ebert) and Inception - 84% on the Tomatometer (Rotten Tomatoes). I am sooooo looking forward to seeing this flick!

Also, it amuses the hell out of me to note that Kurt Loder (MTV) is one of the few people who doesn't get it! LOL!

ZOMG! They've combined video games with a tavern! When I die, will I go there? Oh, I hope so!

Mana Bar: Australia's First Video Game Bar

Featuring next generation video game systems available to play 7 days a week with the latest, greatest, and most social games available. You'll even be able to play games before they're released!

With unique events every night of the week, exclusive prizes and giveaways, and the ability to buy new games behind the bar as well!

The Mana Bar is one of Brisbane's most funky drinking venues, with a unique selection of drinks and custom cocktails on offer. Open now, the Mana Bar is located at 420 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley.

Ack! It's in Australia!!! Why can't one of these open up near me?

Here's a video showcasing what it was like on opening night.

And here's the website. I was stunned when I clicked on the GAMES tab to see the quantity and variety of video games they have available for patrons to play in July!

Seriously, someone needs to start one of these here. There's got to be hella money in the concept, and it looks like so much fun! I used to run video game nights at a local bar, so I know the interest in this would be high here. All I need is a moneyed chump ... er, ah ... an investment partner. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Perhaps there's other compelling reasons to go there. How about a weekend long road trip? LOL!

I just read that Carte Goodwin will be sworn in as a temporary Senator to replace the late Senator Byrd on Tuesday afternoon, and minutes later the Senate will vote AND PASS the unemployment extension that millions of people in this country so desperately need and which the Republicans have been blocking.

Knowing it will pass on Tuesday has provided a ton of stress relief for my SO. She was looking a losing her apartment AND her car. She couldn't have made it if they had delayed passing this bill another 2 weeks.

Some people in the Senate should lose their jobs over this debacle alone come November.

We have an arcade bar here! Or Barcade as they say. Haven't gone yet though.

Yard sale went very well, orignally we were going to have it from 10-3, but early birds got rowdy (and we did post on posters NO EARLY BIRDS) and we had to start at 9:30. And people kept coming and coming, and we ended up not packing up until 8:00. My cupcakes sold out and were deemed to be absolutely amazing

I got the weirdest sun burn though. I was wearing a t-shirt when I put on suncreen and after I changed into a low cut tank top, that shows a lot of cleavage, and I guess I didn't amply cover it because my left tit is now red as a lobster.
