My poor Kribensis She looks so stressed and dejected. She hates being caught, so I had to leave it an hour each time before trying again. She's still in " hide from Lu " mode, hiding up the corner of the tank and shooting away whenever I approach the tank. She does use the plant basket I put in there for hiding, so that's good. Her colour isn't up yet though :/ Hopefully when I add the Betta she'll come out of her shell a bit. Poor old Val !
On the other foot, I am going to a PAAAAARTAAAAAAY!

Honeythorn is a good fish-momma =]
I miss my bettas.. Dorian Grey and Sybil Vane. Somehow, Sybil jumped out of her and Mr. Grey's tank, and died. How ironic..

I am! I have added the 3 corydoras ( I will be getting more to form a proper group ) from my main tank to keep her company until I obtain my white Betta. Hopefully the sight of familiar fish will get her to come out of her shell a bit.
Hmm...A carpet surfer.....well there are few reasons for a fish to leap out, and poor water quality or very bad oxygen tend to be the main culprits. That or being suddenly startled. Having a hood on the tank is always a good idea. Open tops look nice but they are kind of tricky in the whole fish jumping and water evaporation scenario. Did you have a filter on the tanks? It's always best to know what the cause is or may be so it doesn't happen again if you get another.

Meh, if only I could stop acting like an idiot... maybe then I could get that promotion...
It's a mix between being bored, and wanting to be different, that I act like an idiot.

Just a note: Carb Cleaner + Hoppes No. 9 Solvent dispersed into the same airspace + BAD. Gah! I can feel brain cells dying as I type....
On the upside, my nasal passages are completely clear now....
and almost all of my old nail polish is gone.
Carb cleaner makes excellent nail polish remover
I take no responsibility is someone ends up with cancer due to trying this...
*Edit - and no, that was not my original intention with using either of teh above products. Just thought I should clear that up...

My band, for the first time on stage!! For my senior law class we have to do 10 hours of community service, so I'm setting up a benefit concert at my school, which we will play in. We'll open, since we suck, doing a few covers and closing with an original I wrote, so I'll see how it goes.

Gah I finally caved to peer pressure and I now have a character on WoW (although it is on Jake's account so it isn't like I caved to the point where I am paying the subscription) and now I'm waiting for all of the patches to download and it takes forever as there is 923MB of patches -_-

Ok I set that tank up on Saturday? The plants are growing already. One of the stems of Cabomba is at the surface and the rest are catching up, the Elodia has taken off and my Cryptocoryne has unfurled another leaf!
Plus my Krib has settled and regained much of her colour, and the cories seem relaxed and are eating well.

Yey!
I've been thinking about putting a betta and two guppies in a 5.5 gallon (with filter and heater).. is that a good size? I also have a 10 gal.

NO! Never keep Bettas and guppies together. The brightly coloured long tails of the guppies, are like a red rag to Bettas. You'll end up with dead or finless guppies.
5.5 gal is a bare minimum for a betta, but should be fine if it's filtered and heated. If you want guppies as well, then have a community of all males only in the ten gallon. Otherwise the expected breeding extravaganza will occur, and you will end up with hundreds of the little buggers, and nowhere to put them.
If you want no guppies at all, then put the Betta in the ten gallon with about 3 Otocinclus for company if you want a few more fish ( but nothing else at all ) . Make sure the tank is well planted with live plants. Elodia is ridiculously easy to grow. Java moss is also very nice, and can survive well in lower light ( but the better your light the better your plants will grow )
IMO the ten gallon for the Betta and possible Otos is the best setup. Personally I wouldn't keep a Betta in anything less than ten. But 5.5 is do-able in an emergency or swift rescue.
Basically, the bigger the tank, the easier the water is to keep stable in terms of chemistry, because the wastes are more diluted and take longer to build up. A 5.5 would need a 25-30% water change every 3 days or so. A ten would need doing only once a week with a good filter.
