Punk Rock Thread

It's awesome. Discuss punk rock here.

So anyway, thanks to Terrorizer Magazine, I discovered this awesome punk-metal band from Italy called Children of Technology...

Imagine Motorhead in Mad Max.

Shit, how did I miss this? All my love and rage for punk rock! Right now I'm on a heavy Aus Rotten kick. Only problem with them is apparently when I drink too much thier music makes me knock holes in the wall.

Anybody have good local bands to share? I'll show you mine if you show me yours

I've been listening to punk-rock for thirty years now... And I still basically listen most of the time to old-school 77 punk bands. Call me an old sod. But anyway, Children Of Technology are really cool... they sound a lot like Amebix or early Voivod/Hellhammer... Gotta like that.

local bands : if you consider France a local area, lots of bands to be shared. Parabellum, Tagada Jones, Metal Urbain, Bérurier Noir...

Japan also has a lot of really good garage-punk bands. Guitar Wolf, Teengenerate, Electric Eel Shock. Some of theme may not be as serious or as politically minded (as has become expected of punk bands) but god do they RAWK!

This Thread Just Brought Back A Memory I'm Sure Anyone Would Think It's Funny.
Speaking Of Old Bands, I Was At City Club (Gothic Club In Detroit) Wearing A Homemade Misfits Top. While I Was Smoking In The Smokers Room This Guy Spotted Me And Told Me He Loved The Misfits. I Then Said "Yeah But It's Not The Same Without Danzig Or Micheal Graves" After Talking About Them For About Five Minutes They Guy Said "Yeah, I Really Miss Micheal Danzig." If He Wanted To Impress Me He Could Have Been Honest And Told Me He Don't Know Anything About Them And Acted Like He Was Interested In What I Had To Say, Not Lie And Act Like He Loved The Band Lol!

Guitar Wolf are cool, we played together two years ago, great gig, nice guys. And one of them recognised the Foetus logo tattooed on my arm, it was the first (and only) time someone did ! He was looking at it and I thought it was because it imitates japanese letters, I began explaining it was a band logo and he said with this fantastic japanese accent "yeah ! Fiiiiiiitus ! Jim Thirrrwerrrrr !"

You're in a band that played with Guitar Wolf? This may reveal my noobiness for not knowing that already, but whatever, that's cool. What are you guys called? Can I hear some of your music?

Aw shit, early Flaming Lips is awesome. I need to get hold of that stuff again. Gotta say though, I'm not a big punk fan, it's never really held much appeal for me if I'm honest.

I haven't heard the last album yet. I've not heard good things about it though which makes me sad.

I haven't even listened to that, not too motivated. But they are pretty much God if you ask me. I can safely say Wayne Coyne is my hero.

Have you heard the track the Flaming Lips did with Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse? It's nowhere near punk but it's still a really good track.

Not yet, but in a few minutes when I'm done syncing At War with the Mystics to my iPod I'll check it out. They're just a fucking amazing band overall, I honestly fall in love with every album they release. A shame that this new one's been getting flaked...they've got to be one of the most prolific bands out there.

Yeah, they are amazingly prolific. I really enjoyed Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots myself.

Oh yeah, the album is absolute brilliant from start to finish in my humble opinion. They are also awesome to see live.
