I like wearing get-ups for costume parties and Halloween just fine, and I even will grant you that seeing some people dress up for conventions (if their costumes are flattering) is entertaining. But many people wear things they shouldn't (73% of those occurrences involve spandex, while 16% involve using insufficient cloth to cover enough of the body.)
And I have a real problem with the high percentage of costumed "characters" at conventions who seem to take role-playing their characters too far. They are entertaining only in as much as I make terribly mocking fun of their loose grip on reality.
And you know exactly who I'm talking about because you try to avoid getting too close to them too!
