Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

You went from absolute love for over a year to hating her in less than ten days?
Are you sure you're not just trying hard to fit with the cool kids?

I like Emilie Autumn.
I've seen her twice live, and even had the pleasure of meeting her VIP.
Her shows are entertaining, and her violin skills are incredible, they were one of the few reasons I continued to play violin before I had to pawn it.
She's a nice person and, like almost any musician, she enjoys what she does.
I guess she's an aquired taste.

Emilie Autumn is awesome!
The creepy thing is she looks sooooo much like my mom. If my mom had longer hair (same color).

Even if she were the best singer in the world as opposed to the worst, she's still got the most obnoxious stage persona ever. Maybe she's nice in real life but I'm hard-pressed to like a person who has a song talking about how fantastically good-looking she thinks she is.
Also she has this annoying habit of speaking without the use of her upper lip, a la Winifred Sanderson.

Liar!
You should check out The Batonist on youtube, she's kind of the non-lying, more punk version of Emilie Autumn

I'm not gonna lie to fit in, I am fond of most of Emilie's music. Particularly Enchant, the instrumentals (electric and acoustic) and most of Opheliac.
But she herself is, as it was already pointed out, "a 14 year old emo within a grown woman's body". (To paraphrase.)
HOWEVER,
Her new song "Fight Like A Girl" is horribly cheesy and just plain embarrassing and she tends to fuck up any song she covers. ("Asleep" by the Smiths. "I Don't Care Much" from Cabaret. The Star Spangled Banner...)

So I had no idea who this Emilie Autumn was. So I youtubed it. I listened to I think, "Opheliac". At first it sounded pretty good and assumed everyone hated because it was cool to. Then, at that moment I began to like it, someone started singing. The sounds that came from my computer speakers shall haunt my for the rest of my life. Dear god, I had no idea what a blood curdling screech would even sound like before today. It was literally like someone took a cat and shoved in a meat grinder tail first. I thought Pineapple was being dramatic. No, she wasn't. God so terrible....

I just spent a good twenty minutes watching videos and listening to her music on youtube, and I really hate it. The music is tacky as shit, her lyrics are stupid, and her voice just sucks.

Well, the first few songs I listened to didn't strike me as music that even a bunch of teenie bopper emofucks would like, so I just assumed that they were bad examples and that I had to keep listening until I reached a remotely tolerable song. I never ended up finding one, and I was just perpetuating the pain. You COULD call it masochistic.
