What turned out to be a pretty long intro...
Hello.
My name, for the purpose of this crazy box they call a computer is Idoru. I am a Government slave (read Civil Servant) and currently reside in Cambridgeshire, a rather flat county in England.
My favourite Author can be guessed from my name and my most collected genre of film is 80's comedy horror, but besides such gems from that era such as 'Trick or Treat' and 'Rockula', i often find myself going back to 'The Breakfast Club'; 'Hackers', 'A Chinese Ghost Story', 'After Life' (the Japanese one) and that good old stand-by 'The Nightmare Before Christmas'.
When i get married i fully intend on walking down the aisle to the riff from Malice Mizer's 'Bel Air' and should the person who ends up with my will be able to still find a copy of it by then, they absolutely must play 'Further' by VNV Nation. I don't want to die however, and should i not be able to find a suitably inclined Vampire to stave off the rot i would like to die saving someone on the off chance that there IS a heaven and altruistic deaths really DO wipe out all the bad deeds you have committed.
Music, as for most of us i would say, is the topic of choice. I could probably list a favourite band from each subculture within the gothic genre given a few hours, but even that would prove problematic. I worked in a record shop in my younger years so i have quite a collection.
I decided to join up after a reference on the Gothic Charm School website, which is dear to my heart as Manners in the gothic community should be encouraged.
I have really gone on and on, so if anyone has gotten down this far then you are likely reading this because you are bored at 3am or you are my internet stalker. Either way, thanks for reading.

I know it is tacky to be the first person to reply to my own post, but when you start a new paragraph on this thing it does not let you start it with a space as it is supposed to be done. Is that an error on my part? I put the spaces in, babygoth's honour!

Welcome to the board. Have you ever seen "Surf Nazis Must Die"? If you're into crappy, off-kilter 80s flicks, then I suggest you rent it.

I first heard of this site from Gothic Charm School myself actually.
Welcome aboard!
Oh and if you manage to find that vampire of yours, perhaps forward it on to me? Immortality would be lovely.

Welcome Iduro!
I can't tell just from your name who your favorite author is, so if you'll do me the favour of enlightenment I'd be exstatic!
P.S. I first heard of this site on a doll group I was a part of on yahoogroups.

My favourite author is William Gibson, he has a book called 'Idoru' and in the book it means idol singer, a virtual reality pop star.
Wolfmoon do you repaint or make your own dolls? I am very interested in getting involved in that!
Yes Godslayer, you are right I should have capitalised my 'I's', I will willingly swap capitalised I's for an apostrophe in we're

Welcome. You seem cool, and I love William Gibson too. I remember borrowing Idoru at the library once, but then I started Kurt Vonnegut's "Galapagos" simultaneously, and ended up reading that instead.
I promise, I'll pick it up again another time, though!

I repaint them. I normally find olde abused fashion dolls at garage sales or thrift stores(or people just give them to me) and give them a new lease on life.
I reroot the hair if it's ratty, repaint the face and make an outfit. Sometimes I give them wings. You can see some of my dolls in the 'Valley of The Dolls' thread in the general section.

Welcome. I just have to say your choice of font stirs up nostalgia (I'm the one who can't spell to save her life) in me, and the color is delightful. Have you ever seen "Love at First Bite"? I love this movie and all it's cheesy 80's goodness.

I have "Burning Chrome" on my shelf for the last month, gathering dust. As soon as I figure out why I can't concentrate on anything for more than 10 minutes, I'll start it...

Honestly I didn't know it was a Hamilton film. *blush* I'm no movie buff. I'll have to check out Zorro the Gay Blade.
