I've been filling out job applications online, and some of them also require you to complete one of those personality profiling tests. I finished a couple last night; nearly 200 mind-numbingly repetitive variations of "isn't there some scenario where you think it would be okay to (steal from your employer/lie/call in sick a lot/collect a paycheck for being lazy)", and some of them were ridiculous. Here's the one that really sticks out in my mind:

It's really hard for employees to resist the temptation to steal from their employer when they see their supervisor do it: Strongly Agree or Strongly Disagree?

LOL! WTF?

I've always wondered how many people they actually think they're gonna filter out with those. Any ape can figure out what answer they want, after all.

Well, some of them are tricky. Here's an example:

I believe most people steal from their employer at some point: True or False?

I used to answer that one TRUE, as I thought as a supervisor my company would want me to be watchful of the performance of every employee.

But now I answer FALSE, because I think what they are looking at is if you are close to thinking "Everyone else does it, why shouldn't I?"

I love that Orbitz has gay commercials for Logo, actually I like their gay commercials more than their regular ones, too bad they don't show them on other channels.

Awww Ben you are a sweetie. Now I'm going to have to pull up my socks and behave now you're back.

You should start a thread with bad pick up lines.

hmm.. what's my zodiac? - they are boats right? Aww I don't need to be picked up - you'd hurt your back.

Oh and the other night I was watching The Young Ones and realise why I love things with double meanings.

The the lightbulb was gone and then they showed a little lightbulb walking out the door with a suitcase saying "oh yes Neil, they are right, you do stink."

I found jelly babies in the cupboard! I'm leaving all the black ones though, I don't like those. Oh, and the green ones, they are nasty.

I'm glad they found gainful employment. I'll look for them on my telly.

So, I guess when it comes to ice fishing, you don't need to carry one of those orange floaty things ... you just need to know CPR?

I'm a little whacked out on painkillers so it messed with me quite well. I don't know what you did but it totally sounded like there were voices screaming in the background. I like it. I've never made anything like that myself, everything I've made in the past has been......pretty :-/

Was mastering it a difficult process? I always hated mastering shit. I especially hated cutting and splicing waveforms when I was making stuff. That shit is tedious.

DIY makes for some of the best sounds. I went to college with absolute arses who insisted that good sounds only came from quality instruments and expensive computer programs. Fuck that shit, one of the most useful 'instruments' I ever had was a pringles tube filled with bird seed.

I think I hated mastering so much because I had dicks round me all the time who insisted that girls can't make good music.

That sounds like a pretty good idea actually. I just had mine filled with bird seed and used it as a makeshift shaker cos fuck paying a stupid amount of money for something I can make, that sounds equally as good, from stuff in my kitchen. Shit, I've bought crappy kids toy xylophones and used those in what I've recorded.

I had one of those things I bought in a store a long time ago (Spencer's Gifts, I think). Only it was 5 feet long, and the hollow tube had the twangy spring suspended between two bottom facing dixie cups. It was called a Zoob Tube and it was AWESOME.

Thunder and reverb affects and echo chamber (it had a hole on the side you could shout into) and you could reach a finger in and pluck the string for shorter effects. Oh, and you could get some really interesting phased effects depending on the timing of how you shook the thing.

Man, I wish I still had that Zoob Tube.

EDIT: I just looked in my closet and found it. It's called a Zube Tube, The Ultimate Cosmic Sound Machine.

Man, am I pleased I still have it.

I used to get so sick of hearing about people's expensive instruments and recording equipment and stuff. I did far better than all of the people who were dicks to me on the course I was doing and I didn't have access to even half the shit they had at home.

Well, what do you know. They still sell it!

http://www.amazon.com/Zube-Cosmic-To...9373285&sr=8-1

And for $12.95 it's a steal.
